Pros: Allowed me to file my Federal Return Electronically (after an hour on their chat support line).

Cons: With the snafu that Turbo Tax created for itself by making people buy their more expensive version to account for capital gains/losses with their 2014 returns, many like me opted to go to H&R block instead and save some money on the software. As a result, I suspect H&R block's support line is going to be a long wait for most (took me 45 minutes to get a chat support window on 4/12, and I was on hold with their phone support line that long as well until I hung up). So be careful what you wish for H&R, as you have a lot of converts to take care of now, and into 2015.

I didn't realize that H&R block's software didn't come with the ability to do my state software. Instead you have to pay extra. You should factor that into your purchasing decision.

My activation code from Newegg only allowed me to submit 2 federal returns electronically (it was supposed to allow for 5). I had to do 3, so I had to use a chat support session to get a new activation code from H&R block. Took about 45 minutes to get someone on the chat session, but when I did I got a new code and it worked.

Other Thoughts: Based on my experience this year, I think I am going back to Turbo Tax next year for my 2015 returns. That's too bad as I was looking forward to trying something different, and providing the competition to Turbo Tax some support. I hope H&R Block learns from its mistakes this year and improves its products. Maybe then I'll try them again.

Pros: None

Cons: Software not very useful, didn't help me find deductions that turbotax always did. Seemed like I was just reading the IRS tax form manual, but it was missing important info that would have had. It messed up on all the education credits related to kids in college -- would have cost me thousands of dollars if I didn't go back and use turbo tax.

Other Thoughts: Real piece of junk. Would be better to just get the IRS tax forms and do it on paper.... or by TurboTax.

Pros: Looks usable but since there is a software bug it does not work.

Cons: Software bug that changed refund value by just going to the next page. This is not accurate and is suspicious regarding what else the software can be calculating. Customer support was useless to determine how to get around the bug

Other Thoughts: Avoid this buggy software. I wasted money buying this program. I would like a refund, but unfortunately there is no refunds for downloaded software.

Pros: Easy to use

Cons: Does not have all forms (e.g., electric vehicle credits)

***WARNING*** If you need to file state taxes too, don't buy this version. Each state costs $39.95. You can buy Federal+State for less.

Pros: Affordable

Other Thoughts: This is an excellent alternative to Turbotax and so much more affordable! After being with Turbotax for almost 5 years, I just switched and wonder why I didn't switch earlier. Like Turbotax, H & R also allows auto import of data from mutual fund companies, ADP payroll, etc. Also, the functionality in H&R Deluxe version is equivalent to Turbotax Premier so you get more by paying less!

Pros: None - zero rating

Cons: Warning to all: I tried to download this software using the Newegg Down load manager and never received the copy. Now it gives me a message that I have exceeded the maximum number of downloads. Newegg supports says they will have an answer to my in 3-7 business days and will not give me a refund or another down load. Better to buy somewhere else rather than be in my situation

Pros: Get Deluxe plus state

Pros: Customer service was helpful, but the downloaded build was not properly tested by H&R Block. InstallShield Wizard error message was "Error reading setup initialization file"
H&R Block customer service was also very helpful and provide me with a link that did download and install properly. Using Windows 8.1 X64.

Cons: Cyber Monday - took about 45 minutes to reach customer service.

Pros: Called HR Block at 888-313-9885 spoked to rep after 1 hour wait was emailed good link and walked through install fully. H R Block took care of me.

Customer Service Representative was not helpful on refund or download help .Very disappointed the way I was treated in this case.
