5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This is one of my all time favorite games, I have played through the campaign several times. For $9 you cant beat it.

Cons: Dialogue is a little redundant, but still this game is awesome.

Other Thoughts: Had to tweak this game for widescren use but if you google search how to do it its not that big of a deal.

5 out of 5 eggsFavorite Space Shooter

Pros: I have had this game for a couple of years and every now and then I like to dust it off do some blasting. Very big Mod community that now supports it.

They don't make games like this anymore.

Cons: MS dropped the ball with out doing a freelancer 2

5 out of 5 eggsA Fantastic Game

Pros: This is a fantastic title. I have been looking for something similar for years and have never been able to find anything which strikes the right balance between combat and trade.

There is also a huge mod community for this game. With the new Hi-Def Mods, this game will look great!

Cons: The game is a little old, so the graphics right out of the box are not stellar.

Other Thoughts: Highly recommended. And make sure to check out the online community too.

4 out of 5 eggsCould have been more but decent.

Pros: Fun, easy to play with a keyboard and mouse or a joystick. Good graphics for when it was built and very few bugs in the game. Sad when you have to list this as a pro but let's face it, a lot of modern games have an ungodly amount of bugs and glitches that developers just don't take the time to iron out before releasing. The amount of space you have to roam around in once you unlock the jump gates is massive for a single player game from this era.

Cons: Very very repetitive at times. You level up by doing missions and sadly the missions have very little in variety. They are limited to hunting people down, destroying weapons platforms, destroying criminals to tractor in cargo, and that's about it. Story's decent but you have to do so many of the secondary missions to level up in order to unlock the next part that it feels like an uphill battle.

Other Thoughts: The game has immense potential but sadly it feels kind of wasted. There's so much room in the universe but there's so little to do outside of flying, blowing things up, etc. An okay game though if you like drawn out level grinding sessions.

5 out of 5 eggsEven more fun with modern multiplayer updates

Pros: Years after it's release, Freelancer remains a popular multiplayer platform with 600+ daily players from around the world.

Cons: Microsoft didn't make another one.

Other Thoughts: The most popular community modification to Freelancer is called Discovery, which adds dozens of new systems, ships, factions, and functionality to the game engine.

Play as police or military for your favorite house, or be that truly evil character you could never been in the single player module. Fly previously locked ships such as tranports, gunboats, cruisers, and battleships.

Simply purchase a copy of Freelancer then use your favorite search engine to search for "Discovery PTC" to get more information about the Discovery mod, and one of the most popular Discovery multiplayer servers, Discovery PTC.

We look forward to seeing you in game!

5 out of 5 eggsA MUST HAVE

Pros: Everything the previous poster said and:
Replayability. Endless mods. A perfect mix of FPS and Role Playing. Some mods take four years to master.

Cons: Microsoft killed the multiplayer global server for this game a couple years ago. See below for an easy workaround.

Other Thoughts: Listen up people. I am 45 years old and have played this game since release. I have met many young ladies as well as 70-80 year olds playing it. It is a different kind of game. Yes, there are action dogfights if you want that, but, the game lets you hide/evade/avoid if you want to do other things such as trade goods or mining. The game brings different types of gamestyles together. For many FPS tweekers out there, this game is really hard to get into and that is maybe a plus for those of us that cannot play with juvenile cheaters/hackers. There are awesome mods still being made for this game and older mods that are just incredible(TNG-2.76). To play multiplayer on hundreds of servers out there, you just learn to use the fldirectip.exe program in the programs folder of the game. Install mod manager and some of the mods and have fun for years. This is the kind of game you always seem to come back to for a relaxing gathering with friends.

5 out of 5 eggsyou'll want more and more

Pros: it's an easy to understand space flight simulator, from the controls to the interface of the game.

it is a very very fun game as you get to explore the games universe.

there is a sense of space and space travel when playing this game.

this is not a mission based game. this game is like an rpg, that you traverse a journey from point a to point b, except in freelancer, it's in space. just like in an rpg, you start in a single place and it feels small. but after several progressions, you leave your starting point and go on a journey. it has a sense of progression.

after you're done with the single player game, you can explore the universe on your own and there is a lot to see. when you do this part of the game, it creates a sense of space exploration and space voyage that one would typically see in science fiction.

Cons: the only con i have is that there's nothing after this. there is no freelancer 2. even worse is that the studio, digital anvil, is gone. so that's it. you'll want more and go hungry for it because there's no substitute.

Other Thoughts: those who have played this game would eventually look for other space sim games that follow the same structure, that is an easy to understand control to the interface of the game. there are some games that have those features, such as dark star one. but those games lack what freelancer have, the feel and ability to explore the universe of the game. dark star one allowed this ability, but it was empty compared to freelancer.

i've owned and play this game from time to time because it has a very very good sense of space and space travel. imagine star trek with those shuttles that are used for space voyages, except in freelancer, you have a choice of a fighter or a freighter. i don't have or know any other game that offers similar abilities in a game such as this.
