Pros: It maintains the wonderful story from the first one. UI has been streamlined and resembles Call of Duty more than Counter Strike. Otherwise, the game engine has been improved, along with multiplayer.

Cons: Steam

I personally didn't enjoy this one nearly as much as the first. Whereas the first was centralized around the story, Project Origin seems to have been made as an fps, with the story supporting it for some variety.

Other Thoughts: I'd replay the first one over this for the simple fact that Project Origin allows almost no immersion into the story.

The end of the campaign is weird...

1 out of 5 eggsF.E.A.R. 2

Pros: It's F.E.A.R. and the earlier versions were fantastic.

Other Thoughts: I should be honest and state that I have not purchased this game but was planning to do so until I read the reviews and realized that STEAM was required. I was taken by that scheme (scam) before but never again. Just my 2 cents worth but I wonder if the industry will ever learn that restricting their customers freedom is not a good way to sell product.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: Alot of my friends said that it wasn't that great, but I got it anyways and would have to say it is better than the first.

Cons: none aside from it needs more scary moments. like perhaps alma is chasing you while you're in the middle of a firefight with the replica soldiers.

Other Thoughts: More action, more freaky, and a very much needed thrill when you're alone late at night and all the lights are out. The effect is enhanced when you're in a near freezing basement. imo lol

5 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: Fits in with the story of the first game wonderfully, controls are good as they stand at least for me and the graphics are beutiful. The adaptive A.I. and that your foes work together to stop you makes this a challanging and very fun game with godo replay value.

Cons: None that I could find.

4 out of 5 eggsFEAR title, not great, but not bad

Pros: It is a good game overall.
Good physics, and works well in SLI
I get lots of FPS with 2 8800GT, and with 1 too (the other as the Physics engine).
Continues the FEAR saga.
Multiplayer is not bad, and I don't usually play online :)

Cons: it is the same formula as previous FEAR games.
It can get monotoneous, but you will still manage to finish the story mode. And for the price it is OK.
It seems like FEAR 1, but more modern. I bet they could have done a collector pack that included all FEAR in the new engine

Other Thoughts: Could have been better, but I don't know how. It was good for me, and I longed to finish it. After finishing it I did not play it again, but also, I collect PC games, so I have hundred of games to finish

5 out of 5 eggsF.E.A.R.2

Pros: An interesting side story. Takes place at roughly the same time as extraction point. Outstanding graphics. Initially it had some bugs, but after 4 patches (1.05 now), these are a thing of the past. wide screen , film grain, can be toggled on or off. admittedly the key mapping is weak but that is not insurmountable. this game plays like butter on my system. no hitches or glitches at highest settings.

Cons: steam.....kind of a pain in the b**t but once the game is installed you can choose to play offline. if you have dialup or a slow isp, you should probably think twice about getting it.

Other Thoughts: if you are having problems with graphics glitches. consider what else your system is doing in the background..etc just for the record, my system.AMD9950BE,3.1GHZ, XFX HD4870 1GB. oc'ed 800 gpu, 1000mhz mem , 4GB OCZ PC6400 800mhz MSI K9A2 plat,..plays it perfectly..great game

4 out of 5 eggsFEAR 2!

Pros: The long-awaited sequel to one of the best shooters of all time. In the end, it's a mixed bag. The story, level design and pacing all get five stars. In many regards, they outdid the first one in terms of scope and orginality. One of the things that impressed me was the diversity of environments, enemies and weaponry, which the first game was lacking. Same great A.I., especially on the highest difficulty. You get to drive a mech! One of the coolest features I've seen in a videogame yet! They upped the tension, horror factor and this game is alot gorier and grittier than the first installment. Again, I praise the design team. Interaction with Alma is increased tenfold- you get more 'personal' with her. It sets it up perfectly for a FEAR 3, which I hope they will improve on given the cons I list below.

Cons: Suffers from Console Port Syndrome:
-They got rid of EAX effects from the first one. One of FEAR's strong points was that had incredible Matrix-like sound during combat, especially slow-mo, and they completely did away with it. While the sound in this game is passable, the WOW! factor just isn't there anymore. It's a shame because the music in this game is amazing.
-They never fixed the soft shadows plus AA issue. this game has only blocky shadows. Also, AA is only supported up to 4x- anything forced from the driver control panel introduces artifacts.
-Weapons just don't feel as punchy as the first game, and combat is not as visceral. No other way to explain it. It just didn't have the same awesome brutality the first game had.
-I wish they wouldn't have gone with Steam, but hey, piracy is rampant nowadays.
-Mouse and keyboard controls don't feel as natural as FEAR 1. Again, designed for Xbox 360/ PS3 first.

Other Thoughts: All in all, it's a solid shooter, and a solid sequel, had they not given the PC gamers the shaft like every other developer these days. FEAR 1 was a milestone in terms of graphics, sound, gameplay and level of immersion. Everything it did was bleeding-edge. Unfortunately, FEAR 2 fails to live up to its predecessor. P.S. To the reviewer below me: if you had some decent RAM the game wouldn't freeze during saves. I have no problems.

5 out of 5 eggsbetter than the first

Pros: great variety of enemies
great graphics
amazing sound effects
awesome physics
great performance
good weapons

Cons: loading times can be a bit long
they changed the voicemails from the first game into "notes" that you have to read and scroll through by clicking
story isn't the strongest

Other Thoughts: The game starts out a bit "average" in terms of gameplay but it gets really good and really creepy!

I don't like that its not as story-driven as the first, but the action is much better. Also, the enemies are stronger and faster. And the ghosts are actually scary this time around too.

The save points are frequent so you don't get frustrated, which is good.

The little studder when it saves, who cares? Its really not that bad since it saves quickly.

I run it on an ASUS G50VT-X6 laptop at 1680x1050, 4xAA, all settings maxed, cept for shadows which are on low and I get 45 fps on average! The graphics are really good, especially the physics.

2 out of 5 eggsSighs

Pros: - Well.. it was kinda fun I guess.
- The new sniper rifle was cool. It's the only good weapon they ever added since the original game.

Cons: - Steam *farts*
- They got rid of leaning!!! Dumb move.
- No more capture the flag in multiplayer.. just some poop flag game that I seen.
- HUD and film grain effect.. common u lazy port noobs!
- Could not bind the side buttons in game on deathadder.. for real?
- Same old lag spike when game saves during play! haha dang u guys go all out.
- Still using ONE core on my amd 955B.E... pft
- Nobody playing online ( I don't blame them )
- They got my money again.

Other Thoughts: The F.E.A.R. games just get worse as each new one comes out. FEAR 2 was a giant step back. Bah.. all pc games are moving backwards for that matter. "lazy porting For The Win" this is the game developers new moto. I have spent near 100 bucks on fear games and best part from all of them is free.. (FEAR Combat) despite its flaws and cheaters.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Game

Pros: Good game, scary enough, has enough action, graphics are what you pay for

Cons: repetitive, but to ask for something else out of an FPS is ridiculous, so no eggs off.

Other Thoughts: There's a lot of people on here complaining about STEAM. The reason why you'd wait on the box is because at the moment it's almost half the price. Not to mention, the fact that you have to install STEAM doesn't affect the quality of the game.
