No better than the original.
- Pros: It's Stronghold Crusader.
- Cons: Added content doesn't make this game more fun, IMO. No widescreen support.
- Other Thoughts: The new parts of the game don't make the game any more fun to play, IMO. I was hoping for many new features. I might be missing something, but I don't have the option to place a troop-producing out post. They are just there until your opponent destroys it. Godly powers would make multiplayer super annoying. I wish that after all this time they would have released this with widescreen support. I'm tired of seeing a 1024x768 picture stretched across my 22".
Shorty story: I still play the original Crusader with my friends when we geek out on a Friday night.
Short, outdater, hard.
- Pros: A total of 70 new levels.
New neat features. New opponents
- Cons: The same graphics of the first game 2002, the max resolution is going to be 1078*780 or the one near that. Not much detail. Too hard levels. Online play is difficult to set up.
And the list goes on.
- Other Thoughts: This game should get a 2-2 1/2 rating, but since I like the first one and this genre, I was nice. Personally, don't buy the game. You will kick your self for wasting this amount of money. It is not a bad game, if it was released 5 years ago, but now is outdated.
Sad
- Pros: Yay can finally have monk swarms to crush my enemies!
- Cons: The AI algorithms haven't really changed. Out Post system is a very cheap way to make use of new troop limits. Stronghold and Crusader maps can be imported by Extreme, but the AI is pathetically unsuited as you get the Extreme powers and the AI as usual does not. The Extreme Trail is challenging, but only through artificial means (AI outposts are placed around your keep). Where as Stronghold Crusader never needed the disk to play, when Extreme is installed it overwrites Crusader and replaces with a SecuRom version requiring a disk to play.
- Other Thoughts: The bottom line is this: Don't buy this game unless you want to hurl monks at pathetically inept AI opponents or at your friends online. I'm really disappointed.

Stronghold Crusader Extreme takes the addictive Crusader gameplay to a new level. Featuring massive battles, new outposts and tactical powers to master, Extreme carries on from where Crusader left off. The all new Extreme trail will provide a stiff challenge to any hardened Crusader player. For those new to Crusader, the original game has been provided too, in an updated form and with all the previously released limited edition content, such as the second crusader trail and all 8 new AI opponents. |
