2 out of 5 eggsNot really MacOS games

Pros: My mother wanted to play games on her MiniMac so I got this for her. She has enjoyed it a lot.

There is a great variety of free games on this compilation.

No DRM, no product keys, no ads, no shareware.

Technically playable on any platform, Windows, Linux, etc. See "other thoughts" below...

Cons: False Advertising. The description is misleading as none of these are native Mac OSX games but rather 500 megabytes of Flash-based games that play locally through a web browser. Only the installer is a Mac OXS program.

Also, there are not 2000 games as the title may suggest, but actually several of the games may have 100s of levels, and each of these are counted as separate games.

When you open the file, Adobe Flash Player gives a security warning about playing back local content.

Also, being flash based, I don't think it is possible to save high scores. Even if it was, since you are playing them in a web browser, you would loose them anyway whenever you delete your cookies/ browser cache.

No card games.

There is no option to change the default display size of the game window unless you know how to edit html code.

Other Thoughts: I was somewhat annoyed when I first set up the software only to discover that the games only required a web browser and flash, not Mac OSX. My mother's not to computer-savvy, so she really didn't notice the difference. She really did appreciate her Mother's Day gift.

If you can look past the fact that these are not Mac games and can most likely be played for free online, there really are a lot of fun simple games for the casual user to enjoy, plus, most websites that sport free games usually have annoying ads or popups, plus take a while to load on a slow connection.

Besides, what do you expect to get with 2000 games for only 20 bucks?

Three Eggs for the overall quality vs quantity of games, minus one egg for the misleading product description.
