5 out of 5 eggsCharming and delightful

Pros: The principal character (Sylvie) is pretty, clever, and unpretentiously alluring. Her English voice is exquisitely performed. Sylvie's walking and running are nicely rendered, with perfect shadowing and smooth changes in persepctive. From the credits, I assume this game was produced in Poland. The scenes look authentic. The puzzles are sufficiently challenging to prompt an occasional glance at walkthrough notes. Manual 'saves' are easily done, and the game loads very quickly. There is a delightful interview with a parrot ("Come sink with us for 5 Euros") at the boat dock. The question mark symbol helps one locate essential items for Sylvie's backpack, but doesn't spoil the challenge of the puzzles.

Cons: One of the puzzles is almost impossible to solve without the walkthrough notes (the Archway room fireplace) because the scene is too dark. There are no graphics options, so one cannot adjust the 'gamma' or other parameters. The male protagonists appear rather stiff and unnatural compared to Sylvie, nor do their actions always suit the dialogue. Some of the dialogues become tedious (Sylvie and the Cardinal) and seem implausible. The ending is too abrupt and incomplete, nor does this 'finale' fully explain the intrigue. Sylvie wears the same outfit for 5 consecutive days, so I'm not sure I would invite her to share a glass of wine without some air freshener.

Other Thoughts: This is my first City Interactive game. I found it delightful and charming, so much so that I have ordered another of this series from Newegg. The graphics aren't particularly sophisticated, but it's a pleasure to play from start to finish. Sylvie may be modestly attired, but her tight lowcut jeans, tilting hips and cute figure are riveting for the male player. Doubtless this was intentional, and very effectively rendered. She is so captivating that a replay is just as charming as the original.
