Spyder4Pro - Show the world your true colors.

Spyder4Pro is a display color calibration solution designed for photographers and creative professionals that need to match prints to their displays. It includes the ability to adapt to ambient light conditions.

Spyder4Pro features a proprietary, full-spectrum 7-color sensor that can accurately characterize a variety of wide gamut and normal displays. Spyder4Pro software lets you use the same sensor to calibrate your monitor, laptop computer, iPad and iPhone. No other calibrator has this capability. The fourth-generation sensor uses double-shielded filters for longer life and better performance. On average, accuracy and precision are improved by 26% and 19% respectively.

  • newegg Automated Color & Brightness Calibration Spyder4Pro's simple, clear and automated process makes it straightforward to calibrate your displays to a reference condition. You can view and edit images with confidence on a display calibrated to show true-to-life colors and luminance adjusted for precise shadow/highlight detail.
  • newegg Full-spectrum color sensor Spyder4Pro's proprietary 7-color sensor improves upon colorimeters that use 3-channel RGB sensors. Each Spyder4Pro unit is individually tuned in the factory to accurately handle a variety of wide-gamut and normal gamut displays with ease.
  • newegg Single sensor calibrates all your displays Spyder4Pro works with your laptop, multiple monitors, television (with paid software upgrade on website), iPad and even iPhone. It works with LCD, LED, OLED, CRT and other display technologies. You can calibrate multiple displays connected to your computer.
  • newegg Improved accuracy and stability The fourth-generation Spyder4Pro has double-shielded color filters for an even closer match to CIE color standards and improved long term stability. Average accuracy increased by 26% and consistency between Spyder units has improved 19%.
  • newegg Fast Re-calibration Assistant The "ReCAL" feature makes it quick and easy to recalibrate your display to compensate for changes that occur over time.
  • newegg Adapts display to surrounding light The lighting around you will affect image contrast and appearance. An additional sensor on the Spyder4Pro detects changes to surrounding light and adapts the display luminance accordingly.

Pros: Monitor color calibration (accuracy-enhancement) tools are terrific tools geared toward professional graphics-industry users. They fine-tune colors to 'true life.' These units compare colors to accepted 'true' values, then produce a custom icc color profile for your monitor to use.

Cons: Typically LESS accurate than downloading a (free) icc color profile for your monitor. There should be a market to *borrow* one of these, because once you have adjusted the color on your monitor(s), they are expensive paperweights. Also, you get what you pay for here; the more expensive units produce better results. Price is prohibitive.

Other Thoughts: do not try to attach hardware color correction units to a monitor that is standing upright; there is always a gap between the unit and the monitor screen. instead, temporarily lay your monitor down -so that it is facing upward- and then put the hardware calibration unit on top and run it.

4 out of 5 eggsgeneral a good meter

Pros: I have used it to adjust 7 monitors, some good things found were:
1. The interface is quite easy to understand and manipulate, even for entry level users.
2. Except my crossover, which is a Korean brand, all other 6 monitors got recognized and optimized adjust settings.
3. From my professional perspective, the correction process is receivable, going over tens level.
4. For non AG coating or light AG coating monitors, it works better.

Cons: 1. It's hard to stick it on the screen if your monitor can't tilt backward.
2. You can't tweak its recommend brightness, as a prerequisite of later adjusting process, so if the lowest brightness still beyond its recommend value, it will dim all gamma I guess.
3. 5 of 6 monitors appeared over-saturated on red after adjust, which are dell ultrasharp 24'', 27'', ACD 22'' and HP zr240w. Got good result on NEC.

Other Thoughts: If you are not an expert or pro users, for IPS mid and mid-high level monitors, I really recommend just go on internet, there are bunch of corrected ICC you can download for free, and most of them work just as well as this 200 dollars.

1 out of 5 eggsInconsistent results

Pros: Software and hardware setup were simple

Cons: I calibrated a dual monitor machine. On both screens, a blank document appeared white at the beginning of test. After calibrating Mon1, the screen was bluish-green. Mon2 was gray. Recalibrated Mon1 and now it's blue. In every case, the before was better than the after and the monitors were not even close to being the same as each other after calibration. I can understand color is subjective, but at the very least I had every expectation that this tool would bring the monitors in sync with each other.

3 out of 5 eggsFor calibrating monitor to prints

Pros: It does in fact make changes to your monitor, as advertised. Easy to use.

Cons: What you end up with doesn't look "good."

Other Thoughts: We do professional video and photo, but rarely print photos out, so I'm not sure why my boss bought this product as all it claims to do is calibrate monitors to match printed photos. If you want a monitor that's just calibrated to look good, or match how the average consumer will be viewing your photos/videos on their system, this isn't what you want. If you aren't getting this because you want to know what a photo on your monitor will look like when it prints, this isn't the device you're looking for.

2 out of 5 eggsI fail to see benefits

Pros: It does make changes, just not necessarily the best or what you're expecting

Cons: I have a room that I am able to black out or have it inundated with sunlight. I ran the calibration both ways and I'm still not quite convinced this device is meant to get 2 displays outputting the same color tones. The second display does not calibrate the same as the first one. There's always a difference in hue, without any changes to the ambient light.

Moreover, the displays have this blueish tint. I tried it on a MacBook Pro and the same issue occured: blue tint. I may have a bad device? No idea.

Other Thoughts: I got this because I was trying to make sure these 2 monitors will display the same color. Complete fail.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Corrects color on multiply monitors with such easy.
Small simple device.
Easy understandable software with more information than is needed for me

Cons: (5 star review)
wish the cord was longer but being a nerd I have extenders so not a problem.

Other Thoughts: I'm not a photographer or animator nor do I work in a studio, I'm a gamer first and programmer second. I have 3 monitors all same brand and model but for some reason all the brightness' were off and so were the colors. When moving a movie, image or game from one monitor to another everything would look different, so I would end up picking the best one for my gaming monitor and the second best for watching movies, and the last would just be for whatever else. Now I don't have that problem they all look amazing and are all exactly alike. Worth every penny to me
