5 out of 5 eggsExcellent. Works great

Pros: Easy to install even with Windows XP. Downloaded drivers from Intel website. I am getting my computer ready to upgrade to Windows 7. Internet is fast.

Cons: Only con I can think of is that drivers had to be downloaded from Intel website but that was easy to do.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality NIC

Pros: Works better than expected. Ping times are notably reduced and throughput seems good. Set this up on an Ubuntu-based Zentyal router PC and it worked perfectly.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: None

5 out of 5 eggsWorth the money

Pros: I bought this Adapter because my Sons 4 year old HP desktop with it's on board network adapter would not work with the new AC Nighthawk Router. This Adapter works great. Easy install. I just easily installed and no more trouble connected to the new AC router.

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggsCard works as intended! *Review revision*

Pros: It just works.

Cons: Only my stupidity.

Other Thoughts: Earlier I wrote a review stating that this NIC would not fit in my GA-990FXA-UD5 motherboard. While it does in fact not fit in the pci-e x1 slot due to the northbridge cooling, I had completely forgotten about the compatibility with other pci-e slots. Right now the card is quietly doing it's thing a few slots under my GTX 760. Works great in a x8 slot!

4 out of 5 eggsIncompatible with some motherboards

Pros: Price, great reviews, Intel quality.

Cons: Sadly this nic does not fit in my Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5. The card hits the NB heatsink. Not docking any eggs for this (5 eggs is perfect and we know that doesn't exist :D ), it's totally my fault in not seeing this first.

Other Thoughts: I had high hopes for this as I believe my onboard nic is on it's way out. Looks like I'll have to do my first ever return for a different card.

1 out of 5 eggsCompatibility Warning

Pros: Works flawlessly when it works.

I've had these running for years without problems.

Cons: Common configurations have compatibility issues.
Windows 2012 R2 not supported by Intel - uses Microsoft driver.

I have multiple configurations based on Dell PowerEdge servers and Windows Server O/S. But the combination of a Dell T110 II plus this NIC when running under Windows Server 2012 R2 results in consistent BSOD (0xD1, execution) approximately every 8 minutes.

Other combinations work fine, including the same hardware running WIndows 2008 R2, or the same software and NIC on a newer Dell PowerEdge T20.

The problem is that Intel is no longer supporting this NIC and the drivers for WS 2012 R2 are supplied by Microsoft (in-box). So whatever is causing the problem is unlikely to ever be fixed.

Other Thoughts: It doesn't deserve a 1 egg rating, but no one will see the warning - which is a complete showstopper - if the review doesn't stand out. It really deserves 5 eggs, or 0 eggs, depending on configuration.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent replacement NIC in ESXI 5.1

Pros: Easy to install, OS natively supports the device, fast and solid performance

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Had to replace a NIC in an ESXi 5.1 server we have in a lab. System was out of warranty, found this card as a "cheap" replacement. About 10 minutes of downtime to replace, OS automatically recognized the card and applied the existing network configuration to it. Card is solid and works great.

Something went right for once.

5 out of 5 eggsIt just works.

Pros: If a simple NIC card doesnt work, then you deserve to get out of the NIC business. Of course intel will not let me down.

Cons: None
