5 out of 5 eggsWorks Fine

Pros: It has worked fine since the day I bought it. Very easy to install and use. It's one less thing I have to worry about...it always works!

Cons: Can't think of any.

Other Thoughts: I had a TP-Link USB adapter that would not restart when the PC was 'awakened' from sleep mode. I never could get it to work properly. I haven't had a moment problem with the Intel Centrino.

5 out of 5 eggsbiased for intel

Pros: transfers at 20-25 MB/s (~160-200 mbit/s) on the 5ghz band between the router directly above it on the second floor. great!

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: didn't want the work of running a cat6 cable through the 2nd floor (and walls) of the house to reach the htpc.

5 out of 5 eggsGot it right.

Pros: sturdy, reliable, comes with a very good external antenna

Cons: the drivers that come on the CD are a little buggy, but I didn't use them long anyway.

Other Thoughts: It was done right. There is really not much else to say, The card is a good Intel mobile card plugged in to an adapter of sorts. the signal is solid, and gets much better range than my old card. The drivers that come on the CD have issues, but you should download the updated ones anyway. No complaints at all on this one. Brovo Intel.

3 out of 5 eggsMounting Brackets don't fit with a standard ATX case

Pros: This is a great little card and I bought it because of their antenna design. I really did not want to buy a comparable product with the a-typical "rabbit ears" Connectivity is great over all and updating the drivers was done in a snap.

Cons: The standard bracket that came with the box is 4 and 5/8 inches. The bracket on my standard ATX case is 4 and 3/8th. This prevented the card from clipping in place. I had to create a hack to get this card to clip in. I took my blank mounting slot and made holes for the antenna. I'm not really a fan of this hack as the card is still somewhat unstable. I have reached out to Intel and hopefully they will supply a better bracket. I docked two eggs for the bracket issue. A 30 minute install turned into a 2 hour instal because I had to make my own bracket :(

Other Thoughts: Intel should really be providing 3 brackets with this card. The half height was too small and the full height was too big. Something that would fit my 4 3/8' inch slot bay would be perfect. I

4 out of 5 eggsa bit pricey but effective

Pros: cheaper ones out there. that being said this one works great. i could see it being effective over longer distances.

Cons: price. external antennae probably gives better quality but takes up more space.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat strenth and range

Pros: Good performance and solid signal strength. Dual-band picks up both of my wireless networks. Cable management options provided in the box.

Cons: Nothing in my experience

Other Thoughts: The cable is long, but that's part of the attraction - lets you put the antenna where you get a good signal.

5 out of 5 eggsSame as the one for Notebooks

Pros: Fastest downloads speeds on any of my other wireless cards.

Cons: In Windows 8? Do not download the latest drivers, just plug and play will be enough. Why? In Win8, right after I downloaded the latest drivers, the connection would drop randomly, it was annoying. So, I put the old slower card and connection was fine but 20Mbps slower than the 50 rated.
Reinstalled Windows one day, put this card back w/o no updated drivers, now I'm getting up to 58Mbps on my 50/30 connection. This Wireless N6205 chip is amazingly fast. So, blame it on Windows.

Not really a Con but just in case.

Other Thoughts: About a year ago, I bought an Acer Timeline X laptop, I noticed that my DL speeds were fast, one day I decided to get a 2nd laptop, an Acer E1 series and decided to renew my Fios contract, upgraded to 50/35 from 25/25 and noticed that this laptop was getting a max of 20Mbps whereas my Timeline X was getting the full 50Mbps.
Checked the device manager in the TimeX and notice that it had a Centrino N6205, open my Acer E1 replaced the original (broadcom Wireless) for the N6205 and now the Acer E1 is getting the full 50, but up to 58Mbps.

I tested this Wireless N6205 on another laptop and definitely this is the best wireless N card that I have had, broadcom is slowest of them all. There's another brand which I forgot the name but that's the 2nd fastest, but regardless, the Centrino N-6205 is the best.

1 out of 5 eggsAwful - drops signal constantly

Pros: Fast connection, small.

Cons: Signal drops randomly (could be 1 min., could be 1 hour) - you have to disable the wifi, then enable and reconnect. Drops you from games, and interrupts large downloads.

There are forum posts on this all over the place - everyone with this card (many people with laptops - same 6xxx version) all have the same problem. Intel knows and is deleting user posts (rumored). I'm going to RMA and try one of the others - perhaps a DLink - I've had good experiences with them in the past.

Other Thoughts: Blazing speed - and catches signal from the third floor (I'm on the first). Too bad intel wont fix/update their drivers.
