5 out of 5 eggsWorks great with Ubuntu 12.04

Pros: Didn't have to fuss with anything to get this to work with Ubuntu - simply plugged it in and it worked.

Cons: Maybe the long cords, but I tuck them behind my desk. Might be bothersome for some.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat until it crashes

Pros: Fast
Nice Antenna
Easy Install

Cons: Causes Blue Screen of Death
Very low heat tolorance

Other Thoughts: I bought one of these about a year ago, and I was happy with it... though I did start having random BDODs at the time I didn't correlate that with this network card (made several hardware changes at the same time). A couple of months ago I bought a second one for my son's computer, and then he also started having BSOD's (this was the only hardware change). After TWC upgraded my internet speed the issues increased significantly (from 1 BSOD a week to 3 a day).

I put in an old network card in my PC and the BSOD issue stopped.

I have tried several settings, and turned down the power on the card to try and correct the issue, but so far nothing has worked. As of this review I am on the latest driver available from Intel (

1 out of 5 eggsproven unreliable

Pros: Long Range when working

Cons: Just read the following posts for proof that it has never worked right and Intel is not doing anything.

Other Thoughts: Even the most recent drivers do nothing to help.

5 out of 5 eggsWhen blazing fast is about right

Pros: Stuffed it in a PCI Express x1 slot wasn't noticed swapped to a PCI Express x16 slot fired up no problema. Used my old connection to down the driver from the Intel site (who others with CD's these days)? Previously the strongest RSSI signal I could get was a wavering 28 ~ 32% now that SSID is pegged @ 98% solid as a rock.

Cons: I didn't purchase this product sooner.

Other Thoughts: It seems like the speeds in the 5 gig band are going to be adequate for quite some time

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Fine

Pros: It has worked fine since the day I bought it. Very easy to install and use. It's one less thing I have to worry always works!

Cons: Can't think of any.

Other Thoughts: I had a TP-Link USB adapter that would not restart when the PC was 'awakened' from sleep mode. I never could get it to work properly. I haven't had a moment problem with the Intel Centrino.

5 out of 5 eggsbiased for intel

Pros: transfers at 20-25 MB/s (~160-200 mbit/s) on the 5ghz band between the router directly above it on the second floor. great!

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: didn't want the work of running a cat6 cable through the 2nd floor (and walls) of the house to reach the htpc.

5 out of 5 eggsGot it right.

Pros: sturdy, reliable, comes with a very good external antenna

Cons: the drivers that come on the CD are a little buggy, but I didn't use them long anyway.

Other Thoughts: It was done right. There is really not much else to say, The card is a good Intel mobile card plugged in to an adapter of sorts. the signal is solid, and gets much better range than my old card. The drivers that come on the CD have issues, but you should download the updated ones anyway. No complaints at all on this one. Brovo Intel.
