5 out of 5 eggsIntel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 For Desktop

Pros: The install and setup went flawlessly in my dual-boot Windows XP Pro 64-bit/Windows 7 Pro 64-bit desktop.
The wireless download speed is now 3 - 4 times faster in both operating systems than it was any of my external USB wireless adapters.
I'm considering buying another one to keep as a spare.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: The Intel site provides a more current driver than what's in the disc, so get it there.

5 out of 5 eggsGood value, good performance

Pros: This replaces my old Athxxxx card. This new card is dual-band, my old card was single-band. This is a huge upgrade: Finally my desktop can use the 5 Ghz WiFi channels.

The four-foot cable/antenna work very well, much better than the competition's stubby antenna. This gets the antenna away from my metal case and out from behind my desk, and allows it to be mounted high enough to get great reception. My house is old, wifi is diffucult here. With this card my reception improved by 12 dBm!

This is, at the time of my purchase, about ten bucks cheaper than the faster model. This performs well, and I think this is the best value.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I'm using this with Fedora Linux. To get connected, I stopped my PC, I installed the card, I booted up. I went into NetworkManager GUI and removed all my known connections, then added them again, and everything works. No "driver disk" or vendor's app required.

5 out of 5 eggsAnother quality product from Intel

Pros: Product works as expected, and had excellent reception to G and N signals from my wireless router. (Linksys WRT1900AC) The antenna itself attaches with two twist connectors, so no worry about the antenna becoming disconnected. Additionally, the antenna is shaped in a way that allows it to be set on a "J" hook. (Intel includes a tape-backed hook as well.)

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy to install and configure. Works with many Linux distros, very rare in PCI WiFi cards.

Cons: The long antenna cord is kind of a pain to deal with sometimes, but the performance gain is worth it.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not Work with PCIe

Pros: None

Cons: Doesnt work with most PCIe slots. Tried 16x and 8x and 1x
Intel claims that it works with a 1x PCIe slot. but it does not.

What do you expect from a laptop wireless card adapted to PCIe.

Other Thoughts: Follow the standards Intel!

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

Pros: none

Cons: The device driver for the Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 wireless adapter prevents windows from booting normally. The only way I can get windows to boot is if I go into to safe mode without networking and the disable the device. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest driver from the Intel website, but it still crashes Windows. While this seems to be a known issue on some systems, Intel offers no solution.

5 out of 5 eggsIndustrial Strength WIFI Card

Pros: Gives a very solid connection, way better then a USB adapter.
In 5 months not once a dropped connection.
EZ install W7 64 bit
Works with Linux 64 bit "out of the box"
Cool looking antenna

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I don't get some of the features of this card {like softap} because I'm using it on an AMD box.
You can put this card into monitor mode running Linux if needed.
I'm so happy I bought this card!
