1 out of 5 eggsBad drivers?

Pros: Intel brand.
300mbps
Dual band
Easy to plug PCI-E X1................................

Cons: Humm..... Is just a PCI-E X1 card.
I’m trying to use this on my EVGA 790i FTW mobo but for some weird reason the drivers won’t work on my set up. Went to the Intel support site and to my surprise could not find the forsaken drivers... Strange. I’m running On Win 7 Ultmnt 32Bit... 1st time I experience such problem with Intel/Newegg stuff. My Win7 becomes unresponsive when the driver is loaded (during setup) - The only way I can get around the problem is by uninstalling the driver on Safe Mode… Any advise?

Other Thoughts: Hey I got Fios and I need a faster wireless adapter – thought that this was a good deal but I was sadly mistaken... its funny because windows will see the card without the drivers on the Device manager and identifies it correctly... But the drivers wont work at all - Bummer lol

I will RTN this - maybe is just faulty who know.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfecto!

Pros: -This thing is a Godsend in a world full of lackluster USB wireless adapters that promise HD speeds, but always seem drop in performance over x number of months.
-With this PCI-E wireless adapter, I always achieve the highest speed possible on my network, 300, which obviously also depends on the router and ISP (FiOS!)...
-The connection is rock-solid. This adapter never randomly disconnects me like my old Netgear WNDA3100 v2 USB adapter.
-Has Drivers specifically for Win 8. That was actually one of the major selling points for me back when I purchased it (release week of Win 8). ...I think it was one of the first products to ADVERTISE 8 support (but don't quote me on that).
-Intel updates its drivers pretty regularly.

Cons: -The cord could be a bit longer, I guess?
-Wish it came with an Intel sticker. I would put it on my netbook that also never came with one : )

Other Thoughts: I paired this with a Rosewill 300mbps Router. Excellent. Maybe my next Intel purchase will be a SSD.

4 out of 5 eggsNot what i was hoping for

Pros: Good signal strength. Is able to be used in a mini pcie slot if your motherboard supports it. Good antenna and mounting hardware for it.

Cons: Latency can be bad. I think ive solved it by turning the avast scanner off. Yet to be fully determined.

Other Thoughts: Cant speak for range, Its about 2 feet above my router for now.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for Wireless N

Pros: Intel always allows the best performance.

Paired with an Engenius Dual Band Wireless N (also from Newegg) - I get up to 80mbps down / 12 mbps up wirelessly. Of course, through my ISP my package is 50mpbs, so it levels off. On average I get about 30-40mpbs wirelessly.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: If using wireless N, make sure you educate yourself on which security protocols are NOT compatible with wireless N. You will limit your bandwidth/speed if you use a certain security security type in your router.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works well
External Antenna with alternate mounting options
Solid connectors

Cons: Antenna cable length could be a foot longer and wouldn't hurt much with cable routing if it is too long.

1 out of 5 eggsNo good with AMD chipsets

Pros: I'm sure this product has lots of positives - but I didn't get a chance to experience any of them. I will say that the device seems to be well engineered and I was impressed with the simple yet effective design of the optional wall hanger that was included in the box. Too bad I couldn't get it to work...

To Newegg's credit, they gave a full refund for the item including a return shipping label (I'm sure it helped that I had an Intel case # to give Newegg to substantiate that I made a very sincere effort to try and get this thing to work).

Cons: 3 plus hours of angst and expletives - and what did I get for my efforts? Bupkis, nada, zilch.

Attempted to install several different driver versions. Each and every time our Vista equipped desktop would freeze and become non-responsive at the finalization of the installation. This happened EACH AND EVERY TIME. Had to perform a hard re-boot to get machine back up and running. Windows Device Manager always showed the device as being present but with a warning that the device drivers couldn't be installed.

Finally got hold of Intel's wireless networking tech support people and was immediately asked if the desktop into which I was attempting to install this card had an AMD chipset....to which I replied "yes". Tech stopped the trouble shooting process then and there, informing me that this was, in all likelihood, a compatibiliy issue between the AMD chipset in our machine.

Other Thoughts: Of course Intel and AMD are incompatible - in retrospect, this was an attempt at making a very strange marriage work - one that I now realize was destined for divorce before the couple even got to the altar. No honeymoon here...

1 out of 5 eggsMy experience was not so good

Pros: Can't list any "pro's" because I never got it to work.

Cons: This computer technician spent 3.5 hours trying to install this device on a machine running Windows Vista Home Basic (32 bit) 4GB RAM, Norton Antivirus. Tried installing driver from disc, then downloaded driver from Intel's web site - tried running the install of both drivers with and without Norton running - and all to no avail. Entire system would lock up and become unresponsive in the final stages of the installation - and it did this EVERY TIME. Then when I'd reboot I'd check Device Manager and the adapter would be listed but with a warning that windows couldn't install the driver properly.

Tried calling Intel today for tech support - waited on the line for what seemed an eternity - then finally reached someone who asked me lots of questions only to then inform me that I was reaching the wrong tech support department. Got bounced around various parts of India only to wind up getting disconnected on the last and final transfer of my call. At that point I just figured it wasn't worth any more effort - I'll return the product.

The only reason I rated it with one egg is because there isn't a 'no egg' option in Newegg's rating system.

Other Thoughts: Hmmm...other thoughts? How about giving me a product that I can actually install without going through hours of effort. And I've installed many, many, many wireless cards in all kinds of machines and never had this kind of difficulty.

I'm not impressed. This chicken laid only one egg - and it's a bad one at that.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Reception for PC

Pros: Great reception and excellent speed. The PCs I installed in the bedrooms get all the bars from the router at the other end of the house.
Very easy to install in the motherboard short slot above the video card.
Works better than the antennas that run through the usb ports.
Well worth the price over the cheaper alternatives.

Cons: Picks up all the channels from the neighbors routers.
That doesn't hurt your connectivity in any way but you suddenly have a lot of channels to connect to.

Other Thoughts: Wished I had known about this product a few years back.
