2 out of 5 eggsIntermittent connection

Pros: Good speed, easy to install, includes Bluetooth connectivity.

Cons: It randomly drops connection, it'll happen once every couple days, and sometimes a few times a day. Half the time it'll take up to a minute or two to reconnect; sometimes it'll reconnect immediately; and at times, it'll fail to see my access-point at all for several minutes. My old wireless-g adapter on my Xbox has no issues, but this brand-new AC adapter, almost in line-of-sight of the router, continues to fail me.

Other Thoughts: Less than a year old, I'm likely going to replace this adapter, as lately it has become much more of a nuisance.

3 out of 5 eggsOK wireless Adapter

Pros: -Speed works as Advertised [Although I use 300mbps AC connection]
-Software is good, installs quickly and also on Linux.
[Tested on Win 7, 8, 8.1, Crunchbang, Ubuntu and other distros]

Cons: -Issues with PCIe bracket
-1 antenna [Internal connection that attaches to bracket for connection to external antenna] came broken. [Solved]
-Issues above I believe dock 2 eggs

Other Thoughts: The Intel 7260AC desktop has excellent performance, and even through two thick walls maintains a stable connection of -50dBM, and occasionally dipping into the mid and lower -40's, as reported by inSSIDer. Considering that this is on a 5 GHZ/5g connection, which has lower range, it is solid, at least compared to another Netgear 300+300 adapter which struggles to stay above -60dBM. On Wireless N, signal strength is better, reaching into -30dBm, although being capped at ~144mbps. Realistically, one should not expect the 300mbps connection on a 802.11N , as the 40mhz bandwidth is generally unused on the N networks. Nevertheless, on 5ghz, I receive a stable 300.0mbps, and 144.4mbps on N [I use a Netgear WNDR3700R4].

Software seems to work well, installing the drivers through a direct [Ethernet] connection to my router and downloading the latest drivers from Intel's site. The driver installation is relatively straight forward, and may even be plug and play [I haven't checked yet]. So far, it is running without a hitch on multiple Linux distros, and equally well on Windows 7-8.1.

Although the performance and software of the adapter is excellent, the same cannot be said about other aspects of the 7260AC desktop adapter. Although the installation of the physical adapter is simple. [Plug into corresponding PCIe port] and screw down, the bracket is relatively finicky. Unless the adapter I received was a lemon (and probably was), it did not fit quite securely into my case. [Fractal Design Define R4] It, although is secure, moves when some pressure is applied, although being tightly secured. I have confirmed this to be specific only to the adapter (board), as other components work fine on that port. Furthermore, the internal antenna wires (the plugs), broke when I was switching adapter boards. (Although I was very careful and was actually using tweezers to plug the connectors in.) Although I was able to fix this by physically soldering the ends of the wire to the connector, and it does indeed work fine, this was very disappointing to see from such an expensive adapter (> $60).

Although the adapter is of fine performance, and the software works as it should, the unit I received was plagued with issues. I am hoping that these are just defects (which I rarely experience with Intel), and if they are nonexistent, I would easily recommend this to others.

4 out of 5 eggsIntel wifi

Pros: Performance, when connected, is excellent. Intel wifi adapters have always been the best-performers in my experience. The PCIe card has a mPCIe slot on it that holds the adapter itself, so technically it could be swapped out for a newer mPCI card some day in the future but would likely not be necessary.

Cons: A few minior nitpicks, two of which I knew would be present as I researched ahead of time.

First, the adapter does not always auto-connect on startup in Windows 8.1. I did not install the driver that came with the card, I downloaded the latest from Intel's website and used it instead, but that is unlikely to be a cause of the issue. It could also just be flaky compatibility with my D-Link DIR-862L, though other (older) Intel wifi cards do not have issues.

Second, for the bluetooth to work properly the included cable has to be plugged into the card and to an available motherbaord USB header, both clearly described in the document that comes with it. Again, expected as I researched ahead of time, but I have other Intel wifi+bt mPCI cards that do not require this complexity for bt to work out of the box.

And finally, the antenna. While it is nice they provide an antenna assembly that is better than the typical twin-pole arms, I do wish they had provided separate cables per-antenna with the vertical desktop-style pods that I use with other systems. Minor quibble.

Other Thoughts: As mentioned, I did not use the driver disk that came with it, instead downloaded the latest driver for it from Intel's website, and I did not install their software package either, just the driver.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Great, but...

Pros: So like I said, this things works great! but... (check the cons) I didn't really have any problems getting the wireless set up, just install the driver and you're good to go! Quick speeds and very reliable! As for the Bluetooth, once I got it up and running it works great! This does exactly what I bought it for :D

Cons: But.... the bluetooth was somewhat difficult, I got it up and working fairly easy, but the fact that Intel has it on their site that they might have gotten the wires switched on the bluetooth USB cable is the only problem I have (http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/dbw-ac7260/sb/CS-034606.htm)

You would think that Intel of all people would double check this before shipping, but whatever.

Other Thoughts: Still glad I bought it, even though some people have had problems, I really have not had any

4 out of 5 eggsQuick Easy Install

Pros: Quick Easy install.
Card & Wires easily fit chassis.
CD Came with the most up-to-date Driver.

Cons: BlueTooth doesn't support external Audio (i.e. BT Headphones or Sony SRS-X3, etc...) Minus 1 Egg for this.

Other Thoughts: I see many people mentioning problems with attaching the USB Cable (for BlueTooth) to the MotherBoard; in the right direction.

Weird, this didn't happen with my setup.
The install instructions were accurate
(4-Pin slot w/ "D-" on left & "D+" on the right).

5 out of 5 eggsAlmost as good as a cable.

Pros: Packaged well.
Comes with everything you need.
FAST when connected to an 802.11AC router.

Cons: Twice the price of the Mini PCIe version.

Other Thoughts: After a recent move I could no longer have my primary desktop computer connected directly to my router via a cable. I wanted the next best thing and that is definitely this. Installed in the desktop, installed the drivers, and connected to my AC router. Connection is about as close to wired as you can get.

2 out of 5 eggsIntel card not compatible with Intel software

Pros: Made my Intel, so the build quality is good.

Cons: Intel Bluetooth software made Bluetooth disappear from the computer, resulting in no Bluetooth connectivity.

My WiFi Dashboard does not work with this card. After spending a month with Intel support, they finally said that the software is not compatible with this card. What makes this more annoying is that the box says "Personal Hotspot."

Other Thoughts: Note: I got the Bluetooth to work by installing the Intel drivers and then removing and reinstalling the Wi-Fi card.

5 out of 5 eggsOnly Card that would achieve top speed

Pros: Fast, consistent, stable connection.

Cons: costs double other cards, but worth it.

Other Thoughts: Purchase two of these for two new desktops because it was the only card I could find that would get 50+ Mbps out of my 50Mbps Time Warner Cable Internet service. I tried four other USB Wifi adapters and internal PCI adapter and could not get the speed of this Intel Wireless-AC adapter. Two of the adapters I tried:
TP-LINK TL-WDN3800 Dual Band Wireless N600 PCI Express Adapter, and a TP-LINK Archer T4U AC1200 Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter. Could only get about 30 Mbps and they would disconnect often. With the Intel card, I was able to get a consistent 50 Mbps. One time it reached 82 Mbps download speed using the Speedtest.net test. I purchased the first one of these adapters because no matter which adapter I tried in my desktop systems (Windows 7), I could not get the speed of my laptop which is a Dell Precision M4800. I decided to look at the specs and found it was an Intel 7260 AC type. Then I found this Desktop version of the exact same card and now my desktops are as fast as my laptop. I also really like the antenna with the extension cables so you can mount it up high and out of the way of other connections. A much cleaner design and helps with. So now I have three computers all with this 7260 Intel Adapter: 1) Dell quad core i-7 Laptop, 2) AMD 8-core liquid cooled desktop, and 3) Intel quad-core i-7 Desktop. Software was easy to install also, just make sure you un-install any and all old adapter software before installing the new software, and then re-boot. I am sure there are other high end AC adapters that work as well, but I didn't have the time to try them all.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great.

Pros: AC-1200 Not the fastest but good for price.
Bluetooth 4.0 integrated so I don't have to have a separate adapter
PCIe~ works well with most boards

Cons: none as of this review

Other Thoughts: bought this on sale for around 30 bucks. Was a steal at that price. Currently have it in my gaming rig (a modest $700+ machine) My board has all PCIe slots so this fits nicely in the bottom slot to give my Graphic card ( EVGA Gtx 750ti) lots of breathing room. Even if I had to place right next to it, this is so small you don't have to worry about airflow too much.

Wasn't planning to use the Bluetooth feature at first, but now use it to connect to external speakers when I want to share music. Works great.

Currently only using it with a n600 Linksys router so I haven't checked it's full speed potential but I use it for gaming and I am not disappointed with it yet.
