5 out of 5 eggsI stand corrected and it works great!

Pros: Inexpensive. Works as advertised. Low Profile bracket.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I initially reported the card wouldn't fit a pci slot, however I was incorrect. Even though the card doesn't fill the entire pci slot, it does fit correctly and works just fine. Thanks to the manufacturer for pointing this out!

Pros: Maybe it works?

Cons: Card is not PCI at all. It is PCI-X which has a completely different motherboard slot.

Other Thoughts: Was looking for a PCI NIC that had good reviews and this appeared to be it, but sometime in the past, they seem to have changed the card to PCI-X and now it's useless in nearly all systems.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Chris,

We wanted to reach out to you and apologize for any confusion regarding this product’s slot compatibility. We would also like to clarify some things.

Our ST100SLP will function both as a PCI and PCI-X card. It will fit in any standard 32-bit PCI slot (3.3V keying or 5V keying), since the two keys in our ST100SLP allow it to be inserted in either.

The reason it is also labelled as a PCI-X card is because PCI-X (PCI Extended) is a 64-bit extended version of PCI (which is 32-bit). PCI cards will fit properly in PCI-X slots, and simply will not use the additional bandwidth available in the PCI-X slot.

It is possible that you may have been attempting to insert this ST100SLP card into a PCI-E (PCI Express) slot, which will be a different slot altogether and is not compatible with PCI or PCI-X.

We hope this helps to clarify the function of our ST100SLP card, and if you have further questions or need help installing the card, please feel free to contact us and reference case number 303-210076.

You can also respond here and we will be sure to follow up with you!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat and Simple

Pros: -Very easy Installation.
-Drivers are detected fast without the need to put in the -driver disk(you should never use the driver disk anyways)
-Cheap and Affordable
-Comes with 2 different types of IO Shields that are very easy to switch out with just 2 small screws (1 small and 1 bigger one)
-Small, Low Profile card

Cons: None so far! And I doubt anything will happen to it for a long time to come.

Other Thoughts: This is just a simple and awesome product that I recommend to anyone who needs an Ethernet Card.

5 out of 5 eggsStarTech ST100SLP

Pros: Low profile, easy to install, working right out of the box.

Cons: No

Other Thoughts: Bought it to replace the dead on-board LAN at the ~6 year old PC under the Win XP SP3. Numbers: installation (incl. drivers from the CD) ~3 min., download speed - easy 15-20Mbps and more, shipping - free, 3 days. Sure, it's a great bargain for thirteen bucks.
