4 out of 5 eggsGood Stuff

Pros: Work like it is supposed to after Firmware update

Cons: Had to make a firmware update to get it working in Dell Vostro 460 and 470. Was working out of box on Vostro 430 and Other Intel motherboard

1 out of 5 eggsBe aware...

Pros: None.

Cons: Bought a couple for two Dell Inspiron 620's, but neither would even post with this card installed. Disabled the onboard NIC in BIOS, but no luck. Switched slots and computers, but no luck.

Other Thoughts: I'm going to get one with an Intel chipset next.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: None

Cons: Absolute garbage.. doesn't work out of the box. Tried multiple slots. System won't POST with card in known working slot. Take card out, system POSTs fine. Not worth returning due to shipping costs.

Other Thoughts: Buying another brand.

1 out of 5 eggsNot for Linux, at least Ubuntu

Pros: Works out of the box. No driver required.

Cons: Doesn't work well. The driver built into Ubuntu fails internally so you have a network card but you can't ping anything. You can't "ifdown eth2;ifup eth2" to fix it. You have to reboot then it works another few hours. The old Intel and the current Broadcom motherboard NIC are stable. I tried TWO of these, both were just as bad. I'd bet they're fine on Windows.

Other Thoughts: I downloaded the driver for Linux but its source and I'd have to download the kernel source and build a module and I just got tired of trying to make a bad card into a good one. Its a Realtek chipset. I'm going to try to return it and get a non-realtek card to see if that fixes it.

3 out of 5 eggsBetter specifications

Pros: It's a good price.

Cons: The specifications on this item doesn't say very much. for example witch O/S does this LAN support, Is it PnP, does it come with or require drivers. Are the drivers shipped with the LAN
