5 out of 5 eggsGreat stopgap

Pros: 72 megabit/sec @ 580 feet, using the brown pair on a cat5e cable temporarily strung between buildings to get the fire alarm lines working. POTS fire alarm lines are on orange and blue pairs, and while waiting for fiber and 50 pair to be pulled I figured this would be a good temporary solution. It was! Measured with iperf.
Also it's very stable, unlike the wireless bridge I had in place.

Cons: I don't think it can be used on a line with a live phone line on it but I may be wrong.

Other Thoughts: This product is really for people that have existing copper between buildings and want/need to utilize it where having a wireless bridge is too expensive or unfeasible.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Simple configuration via Dip Switches

Cons: Nothing yet

Other Thoughts: I used this product to link two offices that were connected by a 100 m exterior grade 2 pair phone wire. It worked flawlessly and I was getting 50+ Mb speeds over the line.

5 out of 5 eggsGood extenders

Pros: Decent quality
Fair price
Good performance
East setup, plug and play

Cons: Not rack mountable. Power supply looks to be the weakest link.

Other Thoughts: Very good extenders for the price. Recommended.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: Installed between 2 buildings. We used existing CAT 3 wiring. The run was about 1200 feet. Doing files transfer tests I was able to achieve standard 100 Base T speeds. Though offsite speed tests I was able to achieve 35Mpbs down and 25Mpbs up. Much better than expected.

Cons: Does not offer 1000T connections.

Other Thoughts: This module uses 1 pair of copper wires. You setup one as a master and the other is a slave. Very easy to setup.
I would suggest metering out your wiring first to make sure you have no shorts etc.

2 out of 5 eggsNot so fast . . .

Pros: They were easy to setup using the existing dry copper pairs we had leftover from moving to VOIP.

Cons: The speed was around 8Mbps on a 100M run, which is pretty weak. The Cisco LRE were we trying to replace was getting 15Mbps (but that's compressed.) I guess it all comes down to the quality of the copper between the two endpoints.

Other Thoughts: YMMV using these. After checking out the Patton and the Data Connect ethernet extender products I opted for these since the price was right and the advertised speeds seemed promising. The Newegg restocking fee was any even bigger disappointment. StarTech's support was somewhat helpful. They mentioned I should have run DSL rated cabled. Ha! If we could run cable we would have run fiber. The whole point of the extender is to use existing copper infrastructure.
