Opps! I wish I would have tested this first!
This review is from: StarTech ST1000SPEXD3 Dual Port Gigabit Server Network Adapter Card 10/ 100/ 1000Mbps PCI Express x1 Male 2 x RJ45
Pros: It immediately was found by windows on my AMD Sabertooth mother board with the 990 FX chip set. Drivers loaded. Its nice now with its 2 ports and the native motherboard port each being available. If the world of computing was framed around that motherboard, it would have got 5 eggs.
Cons: I spent to much money for a PCIE card that did not install into my new GigaByte FM2+ motherboard. I wanted this card installed into a 2U purpose built case. Now I will have to explain to NewEgg that after my build and testing, I finally discovered lastly that this card does not have the drivers for these new motherboards - Bolton 88 Series. I will have to hope for a return for credit. The card was also not found by Linux - Ubuntu on the FM2+ motherboard. I went to Startech web site for latest drivers. That did not help at all.
Other Thoughts: Nicely packaged, came with manual and robust CD for many systems. (It could not be found on the new FM2+ Gigabyte Bolton 88 Series.) I really liked the 2U Bracket It is however poor on instructions. But not nearly as bad as some. But with windows finding the hardware and auto loading the software, you would only need better documentation with Linux.
