Other Thoughts: I needed this for streaming video from my laptop. The wireless on my AT&T cable modem is wireless G! Good grief! Get a grip AT&T.

Pros: There is absolutely none

Cons: Worked for a day and now will drop the internet connection, reboot the machine and it will go maybe five minutes then quit. I plugged my trednet wireless adapter back up and off we go. Ordered it on the high recommendations. Cost more to send it back than it is worth.

Secondly, we recommend making sure the adapter settings are set to "Auto-Negotiate". This ensures the adapter and your router/switch are operating at the same speed. You can achieve this via the following steps:

1. Open Device Manager
a. Done by pressing "Windows Key + R", and typing in "devmgmt.msc" in the subsequent window. Click OK.
2. Open the "Networking adapters" section.
3. Right-click the network adapter that you want to change and select "Properties"
4. Click the "Advanced" tab.
5. Scroll down to the "Speed & Duplex" section. Make sure it is set to "Auto-Negotiate", or if you know the speed of your network, you can set it to the appropriate speed.
6. Click "OK" and restart your computer.

Pros: It is very fast over USB 3 and works as expected. The extra USB port can be helpful if have don't have very many free ports left on your computer.

Cons: None so far. It is slightly slower than a true 1Gb Ethernet card.

Other Thoughts: If you are using Linux or BSD, depending on your kernel version, you may have to take a few extra steps to make the adapter work. It comes up as ASIX Elec. AX88179 in Linux.

Pros: Works as expected, lacking deficiency demonstrated by another similar product, see Other Thoughts

Cons: Could use more USB 3.0 ports, but I'm not deducting any eggs for that both because one is all I need and I'm so pleased it works as expected.

Other Thoughts: Both the Ethernet Adapter and the pass through USB 3.0 port are recognized and the device is operational at boot even when plugged into a USB 2.0 port prior to a cold power-up start, as expected. The Ethernet Adapter of the HooToo HT-UE01 was not operational under the same circumstances if certain, but not every, USB device is pre-plugged into one of its USB 3.0 ports. In my case, a USB IR Receiver and a Wired USB Mouse prevented the Ethernet adapter from being operational at boot until the device was unplugged and plugged back in. A USB wireless keyboard receiver did not produce the problem. With this device, none of those USB devices prevented the Ethernet adapter from being recognized and operational at a cold power-up boot.

Pros: I've been looking for a quality USB Network adaptor. This one fits the bill and has a pass-through USB 3.0 port. It will work on USB 2.0 ports as well.

Cons: I wish it had a couple more USB ports.

Other Thoughts: With the new tablet style laptops no longer coming with network ports this is becoming a must to carry. Especially for us in the corporate world that care about security and can't rely on wireless connections everywhere.

Pros: Linux plug&play. Works with either USB3 or USB2.

Cons: I was totally shocked by its gigantic size: 3x1.5 inches! That's the size of the two iphone charger. Also the housing is very cheap made.

Other Thoughts: This one is for industry market, not consumer market.
