Confirmed to be the adapter since both my phone and my laptop had steady 5G connections during the adapter's connection failures. Replacing the adapter with a previous wireless N from TP Link returned connection to a rock steady one, albeit much slower. Other Thoughts: I'm not sure if this was a lemon or if these are just poor products. The build quality feels extremely cheap, you can wiggle the board inside its enclosure by holding on to the USB connector. My TP Link adapter feels much more robust and comes with an external antenna for a quarter of the price. Very disappointing.
