5 out of 5 eggsIt says "controller based".

Pros: Great unit. LAP required.

Cons: None really.

Other Thoughts: Not sure what part of "controller based" confused the other guy above. Maybe the "other website" he purchased it from didn't say that but do your research. If you have more than half a dozen APs would you want to log into every one of them to make a change? Most larger deployments use AP controllers so this isn't so strange.

2 out of 5 eggsFor people with advanced Cisco knowledge only!

Pros: I'm sure this is a great unit if you have a WLC...but I don't.

Cons: I purchased this unit from Am*zon and the description doesn't mention the requirement of a Cisco WLC (Wireless Lan Controller). Unfortunately, a WLC capable of running this unit is just as expensive (or quite a bit more!) as this access point.

Other Thoughts: It has been hinted that this unit can be upgraded to a standalone IOS, but all the documentation I can find to do so hasn't worked for me.
