Great SOHO Router
- Pros: This is a great router, Very reliable and if you actually get into the configuration, this thing is VERY secure for a small business. I use this with a SBS Server behind it hosting VPN and Remote Web Workplace and couldnt be happier
- Cons: lack Gigabit
- Other Thoughts: This would be great to have a Gigabit Router attached to, So i daisy Chain to a Gigabit Router and plug in the Standard Ethernet devices like network printers to this box
- Pros: Pro’s This is a fairly simple device to setup. I use 3 of these units connected to a FVS338 in a hub and spoke configuration. The VPN Tunnel has been up since I first set it up. I will likely add up to 30 of these in the field. I do not require higher speed rates or large file transfers, but I do need the VPN to always work. So far I am very happy with the setup.
- Cons: Con’s This unit can hang up after running for a week or more without a power cycle. I recommend using the setting that resets the router once a day. Since doing that it has not given any headaches.
- Other Thoughts: The interface for the fvs318 is different from the interface of the fvs338. Even though they are basically the same piece of hardware, it makes it difficult to match settings when those setting are located in different sub menus. TO NETGEAR LEARN TO USE THE SAME MENUS.
- Pros: Easy to config, had a site-to-site VPN established in no time.
