1 out of 5 eggsStay Away

Pros: Reasonably prices L3 switch

Cons: No VLAN Routing ACLs. Why have VLANs if you can't put and ACL on them? What's the point? VLAN routing is pretty bad on it too. I had to create static routes because it doesn't support RIP on VLANs.

Other Thoughts: If you are a small office (why are you looking at L3 then?) with no future growth plans and are not looking for a switch that will actually function in a business environment, you have found it!

4 out of 5 eggsDecent switch

Pros: This switch is pretty low-priced considering it is layer 3 (1200 dollars and OSPF are usually something you have to pay 3k and up for)

Cons: It is cheaply made. I have had software problems with the one I own, but if you leave it alone after your first configure it it will run well.

Other Thoughts: I didn't buy this from newegg.

2 out of 5 eggsNoIP ACLs

Pros: OK switch. Routes VLANs, etc... rather easily. Easy CLI.

Cons: NO IP ACLs!!! Why would you build a Layer 3 Switch without IP ACLs. They say it is coming in their '09 firmware release. I will believe that when I see it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat switch for iSCSI

Pros: Inexpensive. No paying through the nose for HP, Cisco, Dell, etc.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: We use this for an iSCSI SAN and it performs perfectly for our needs.

5 out of 5 eggsInexpensive Core Switch

Pros: This is a fast and inexpensive Core Switch. Setting up is easy and you can populate your network segments very quickly.

Cons: The management interface is a little bulky but a little experience and you can find everything you need. If you are good with IOS you should have no trouble with the CLI on this one.
