Cons: never worked properly. netgear did what they could to support it over the phone and ultimately decided to replace it. tried to charge me for extended warranty on something which never worked properly. cuts in and out. I've been trying to use it for home office. when wifey hits it with her laptop it effs the whole config and I need to reset it. going to buy another model and smash this one.
Other Thoughts: STAY AWAY from this model and NetGear altogether. Their service is awful and their products are even worse.

Pros: 8-port 10/100 switch, VPN, Wireless all in one small package.
Cons: UNSTABLE. Good-grief, this thing is unstable!!!! It seems like if it's not being slow to manage via web panel, it's totally locked up. Cannot wait to be rid of this thing!

Pros: Solid unit which general works very well. Easy to configure, plenty of flexibility
Cons: Unit Arrived DOA. We have order more than 50 of these in the past year, and this was the first DOA.

Pros: Nice pretty box.
Cons: Worked for about two weeks intermittently. When it works, it works but doesn't last with heavy traffic.
Other Thoughts: I fought Videotron to have their broadband router replaced thinking that was the issue. Upgraded the firmware to version 2.1.2.67. Finally discovered that even with the most basic settings the wireless portion wouldn't hold the connection. So I put my older WT102 and the RT314 back into service. As these are working fine, I don't even want to put the FVG318 back into service. Also found that the Netgear forum has a great deal of comments regarding this box. Wish Netgear would refund my money but doubt that will happen.

Rating: 2/5Works, but with outages
Pros: The 8 ports are a plus, and it did everything our company needed of it....
Cons: .... Except when the DHCP would stop working about every 2 days (trouble with renewing lease maybe?)
Other Thoughts: Never used the VPN features.

Pros: Lifetime warranty
Cons: Okay so I wrote a review the other day and Netgear sent me a brand new replacement. I installed it and it stayed up... sort of. It had some pretty high ping responses (about 10-35) and once in a while it dropped. Okay i can live with that, i need to get the client up. So i installed and and noticed it had a very weak signal. Even on my desk sitting next to my laptop, poor signal. I even changed the channels, poor signal. Its just NOT a great product. I love netgear switches but i will never buy anything wireless from them again.
Other Thoughts: Don't waste your money, get another product that works. Even the good ole linksys routers were better.

Rating: 2/5WiFi Did Not Work
Pros: Price. Lifetime Warranty.
Cons: I decided to switch from Linksys products to Netgear because of the lifetime warranties. I've had good luck with their switches and higher-class routers. This was the first time installing it. The router worked however the wireless kept going up/down constantly, to the point where I couldn't even connect. After an hour phone call to their tech support line I was finally issued an RMA number. This was after I was told to try beta firmware and allow their tech to remote into my router, just to verify the same results I had.
I'm an IT consultant, i shouldnt have to wait an hour talking to a tech with less knowledge then me in order to get an RMA. Should be a 10 minute process at most, not an hour process.
Other Thoughts: I'll definitly try it again, but only one more time. If it fails again, i'll switch to another product. I've heard bad things about this particular product, maybe next time i'll keep my routers and access points seperate then using a combo unit.
Cons: The device only ran for about 45 minutes before locking up. If you power cycle it, it'll run for another 45 minutes before locking up again. I've went through 3 techs at NETGEAR 'round and round with this one. Even with a basic config it locks. The even more strange part is we replaced it with a cheaper name brand router and that has NO problems at all.

Pros: Lots of ports, incl wireless.
Cons: Disconnects my computer multiple times per day making me reset the connection. Wireless has issues as well.
Other Thoughts: It disconnects less if you leave your routers ip as default. but if you change your routers ip get ready for a lot of internet connection issues. buy something else if you can, anything else

Rating: 3/5Just Okay, Not a Rockstar
Pros: VPN
Cons: Basic features are not as robust as $50 Wireless Routers. For instance DHCP reservations... no Host Name? I don't know about you but I dont memorize Mac addresses. Also, your main sale point for the device is VPN. Without that you may as well get something cheaper. You charge more for the device for VPN, the client should be included on the CD. Selling it seperately is Bull.
Other Thoughts: Seems a little slugish, but stable so far after 3 days. Needs more spit and polish. The interfaces are not intuitive, so you need a good understanding networking. The Forticlient VPN works fine with this device.
