5 out of 5 eggsNetgear 5 port Gigabit Ethernet Switch

Pros: No problems whatsoever. That being said, a wired gigabit ethernet switch is probably the most simple form of network connection around and I don't think any company could screw it up (well, maybe D-Link could).

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsCan't be beat

Pros: Fast and reliable. When found on sale or with a rebate, it's performance, sturdy metal build and compactness can not be beat.

Cons: It would be nice if the power connected on the same side as the ports, it's not like this is a rack mount switch or something. However, then it wouldn't be as small as it is, so I'm fine with it.

Other Thoughts: I have another of these that I purchased in 2006, and after a few years it had some issues. Some ports randomly won't auto-detect at gigabit speeds. I'll switch to another port and it will connect at gigabit just fine. Also about once a month it stops working completely and needs reset. Other than that it's been fine. I don't expect this one to have these issues, but time will tell, and it's so cheap as long as it goes a few years it's worth it.

2 out of 5 eggstossed it

Pros: Nice little metal box.

Cons: I bought it to replace a router that would, intermittently, reset its connection. Since my download speed decreased from 20 mph to 6 mph, and, I had already mailed in the rebate forms, I had to toss it. I kept the box though, I am going to use it to house a remote USB 3 terminal, my motherboard only has external usb 3 ports in the back of the case, and, remote keyboards and mice do not recieve a proper signal from them, and they are a pain in the but to plug in to.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: This is a very hefty feeling switch for its size and well...it's a switch. Not sure what I could really do to test the throughput if it's worse than gigabit, but I trust that it performs at what it's rated to be. Fits nicely on my desk with my desktop and Raspberry Pi server!

Cons: Nothing I can think of

Pros: workhorse router, no software, drivers or hassles. Complete plug and play.

Other Thoughts: Netgear has always been my brand of choice for networking. This was an additional unit purchased for my son's computer/game systems and works like a dream.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: If you need to extend the amount of ports connected to a router this is your answer. It is "plug and play" and just works. Neatgear products in general are great, and this is no exception. Besides, Newegg's price was very low, their service exceptional as always, and their shipping is lightening quick. Highly recommend.
