1 out of 5 eggsNot compatible with RangeMax

Pros: The external antenna and cable length (about 4.7') allowed me to position the antenna to improve reception.

Cons: The product brochure indicates it is compatible with both RangeMax and the newer generation RangeMax NEXT. The (older) RangeMax router and adapters I am using provide 108.0Mbps. The new WN311B does not, although the brochure clearly states that it provides "Advanced MIMO technology - for speed and range"for both RangeMax and RangeMax NEXT. This adapter, the WN311B, only provides half that speed. Netgear support personnel stated the WN311B is not capable of 108.0Mbps speed with RangeMax. The brochure has not been changed.

Other Thoughts: Netgear products have generally been good. I purchased this NETGEAR product to maintain the connection speeds had across my network. The brochure's claim that is is compatible with RangeMax for speed is incorrect. Netgear is now aware that the brochure is incorrect and the brochure remains unchanged.

4 out of 5 eggsWhat is with all the negative reviews?

Pros: -Works great right out of the box.
-Fast as advertised
-Absolutely no problems installing

Cons: -Had to find a place to put the shiny white antenna
-No 5ghz support, will need to upgrade soon
-Isn't a mini transformer my kids can play with

Other Thoughts: I bought this card almost two years ago from New Egg. Running it on Windows 7 x64 and I've yet to have a single problem. I installed the PCI card, Windows autodetected it on start up and I've never messed with it since.

2 out of 5 eggsBelieve the bad reviews

Pros: In a dystopian, post-zombiepocalypse future the components could be melted down for for a brief moment of warmth.

Cons: It's amazing how a device created for one purpose and one purpose only (connect to a network) can fail so horribly & miserably. In a miraculous display of disconnecting efficiency, it is able to spontaneously sever a network connection under the following conditions:
1) too much data
2) too little data
3) no data
4) a strong wind from the west (occasionally from the north-north-west, but usually only under ideal circumstances involving a clear sky, and, oh yes, the user trying to accomplish something useful)
5) always.

Other Thoughts: Made by Vogons. Also, the irony of disconnecting from the internet while writing this review was just too much perfect.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's Great

Pros: It's fast, and it's a wifi card, also range is good.

Cons: None at the moment.

Other Thoughts: Good buy, it bought this from Best Buy before I knew about new egg.

1 out of 5 eggsnot good at all.

Pros: None

Cons: Can't stay connected when my ps3 is online. Have to use custom drivers and still doesn't work well. Randomly disconnects even without ps3 connected. Very inconsistent and unreliable.

Other Thoughts: I bought this a while ago. I had bought a wireless g card but that was slower and not good either. I recently bought the D-Link DWA-556 pcie card which looks promising. DO NOT BUY THIS CARD. It is very inconsistent and unreliable.

5 out of 5 eggsCard works great!

Pros: This card works perfectly for me running Win7 x64. No problems at all and it gets signal from the router at the other end of my 1930's house with plaster walls.

Cons: Nothing really, works well.

Other Thoughts: All of the negative review for this product are ridiculous. Anyone who is putting a 'tech knowledge' tag of high should know that you NEVER install the manufacturer software. Drivers on the provided CD are never up-to-date. Even then, I cant fathom how some of the people putting reviews on this product truly have high tech knowledge.

2 out of 5 eggsNot What it Should Be

Pros: -It works.
-Looks like it would work well.
-Seems to be quality built.
-Will force you to learn about custom drivers. (or is this a con?)

Cons: -Driver support from Netgear is VERY poor on this device. Purchased this a few years ago when I was using Vista 64 and had owned this for at least a year before Netgear even considered releasing a driver to work for it. And even when they finally addressed it the custom drivers I had been using still worked better.
-Fancy antenna doesn't seem to add to signal strength. The signal strength of this isn't bad by any means but I have a $20 USB dongle type that gets better signal than this.
-PCI interface is dated, surprised they haven't updated the design to PCI-E.

Other Thoughts: -The cons for this device are almost acceptable for a cheap get-what-you-pay-for no-name-brand USB wireless adapter. However, this is a premium product with a premium price tag so these issues are unacceptable.
-I do not recommend this to anyone.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks ok on Win7 64bit but..

Pros: Works fine on my Windows 7 64bit rig. It pretty much does what it says.

Cons: Doesn't connect to dual band router at 5ghz. 2.5Ghz only. I can't really complain. It says right on the box 2.5ghz. And that was fine with my previous Wireless N 2.5ghz router. But I got a new dual 2.5ghz 5ghz and it my dumb self didn't consider this card's specs.

1 out of 5 eggsUpdate on Review

Pros: Apparently works on 32-bit systems.

Cons: Apparently does NOT work on 64 bit systems.

Other Thoughts: NETGEAR Support has notified me to return this adapter to the store because their driver for this adapter does not support 64 bit systems. Who is not running a 64 bit system these days and why would you sell an adapter that didn't support a modern OS?

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Adapter I have ever owned.

Pros: NONE. Absolutely none. I'm not usually one to complain about products like this too.

Cons: This is absolutely the worst adapter I have ever owned. It CONSTANTLY drops out "scanning". If you search the internet you will see that this is a known issue that Netgear clearly just doesn't want to address or deal with, instead they'd rather just lower the price and push the problem on to you, sad.

Other Thoughts: Do yourself a favor and go in another direction. I'm constantly having to stop what I'm doing, manually hit "apply" (their software) or "connect" (via Windows) and wait for the connection to occur, it's absolutely pathetic.
