Pros: One of the few access points that can transmit in the 5 Ghz band (some network adapters, e.g., Intel wireless adapters on laptops, require 5 Ghz for top performance at 40 Mhz). Good performance even when signal is marginal -- I consistently get 10 MB/sec copying a file in Vista at 50% signal. Good setup menu with all the features you need, typical of Netgear products.
Cons: Range is mediocre. Just one floor and 15 feet cut the signal to 50%, and I couldn't get any signal at all from three rooms away on the same floor. The Trendnet TEW-637AP is half the price and has FAR better signal in both situations. Plus there are no external antennae, so you have to awkwardly reposition the whole unit to maximize the signal.
Other Thoughts: This unit can't transmit in the 2.4 Ghz band, which is not a negative unless you have an adapter that can't use 5 Ghz. Also no Gigabit ethernet port, but it's not needed since it's rarely possible to even achieve 100 Mbit in one direction on draft N.

Rating: 5/5Very Impressive
Pros: It just works. Simple as that. Took it out of the box, plugged it in, hit the sync button on it and my router (Netgear WNDR3700, also awesome) to get it running as a bridge, and everything's happy. There's a switch on the back to go between [Auto|Bridge|Access Point] modes. By default, it's set to Auto - I never had to touch it. Also, two LAN ports on the back, instead of the usual 1 for AP's/Bridges.
Cons: It's a little big, and the glossy surface is a fingerprint magnet...but I couldn't care less. It sits next to the PS3, XBox360, and the cable box - and they all dwarf it. And how often are you really going to handle your AP/Bridge anyway?
Other Thoughts: After a couple months of frustration with the outright terrible Linksys WET610n (constant signal loss, low transfers speeds, etc), this thing is like a godsend. If you're looking for a solid bridge, this is the one you want.

Rating: 5/5N & A ONLY!!!
Pros: Very very strong N range and throughput! Very indepth setup available.
Cons: This device is N and A only. It does not do B or G wireless, so beware if you buy this device.
Other Thoughts: So many folks are giving this unit a bad review because "it doesn't work". It is a very good device. I'm getting almost wired speed on wireless connections. But you have to know it doesn't do B or G connections, so some devices work work (My iPhone won't use it for instance...) If you have N or A needs only, this is the device to get!

Pros: Great product! I wanted to use this as a bridge to connect my Panny Plasma and blu-ray player to the internet. I paired this with the Netgear WNDR3700 dual-band router and I was watching Netflix movies in a matter of minutes. It was as simple in the cables and pushing the WPS pin and push button to connect.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: People need to understand that this is an "N" product only. Pair it with the right router and it is great.

Rating: 5/5Optimize your wireless FIOS installation
Pros: High quality construction, excellent performance, relatively inexpensive
Cons: Inadequate documentation, doesn't connect automatically as stated
Other Thoughts: Was able to get a pair of AP/Bridge to work with the new Westell router Verizon gave me with their FIOS installation. Settings: (1) Use Westell Router only for DHCP (2) Assign static IP to AP and Bridge. I used 192.168.1.100 & 192.168.1.101 respectively. (3) Connect Bridge using PIN # on outside of Bridge unit via software setup on AP. Remember to push the button on both AP & Bridge and hold for 10 seconds prior to hitting the connect on the AP software setup. And, keep both AP and Bridge no more than 5 ft apart for initial connection. (4) I set the Channel on the AP to 161 at 5.805 Ghz. After that no problems. Have 4 PCs connected to Bridge via switch, then about 100ft. through 3 walls and a floor to the AP which is connected to the Westell router by a CAT5 cable. Results on downloads over my wireless average 15 Mbps download and 3Mbps upload. That's about 14x faster than previous DSL setup. Wireless G on Westell router is not good. But wired ports + Netgear AP/Bridge are excel

Rating: 5/5Great Extender
Pros: Great coverage / throughput even in crowded wifi area. Solid performance on 5 Ghz 802.11n wireless setting. Xbox 360 no longer suffers network issues when connected to this wireless point. Works in both the 5Ghz as well as 2.4 Ghz unlike other many other 'wireless-n' routers.
Cons: A 1Gbit Lan port would have allowed us to access the full 270mbps rate. Not a big issue though considering most devices are still only 10/100mbps.
Other Thoughts: Previously used linksys to connect an xbox 360 to the network. Never seemed to work well. Even when I upgraded the base station to the new WRT310N, I would constantly receive "network issues". Changed extender to this netgear along with the base station to netgear WNDR3300. Have not looked back.

Rating: 1/5No improvement over G
Pros: Based on the reviews it seemed like a good value solution to extend higher speed wireless to my TV for HD streaming. I was trying to get higher speeds than my current G network was getting.
Cons: The range was was similar to my 2.4 Ghz G network in terms of signal level but the speed at that signal level was horrible. At up to 40% signal level I was still getting 13 Mbps sync at best with actual throughput much lower. I tried manually setting channels, speeds, etc and nothing would give me good speeds. The only time I could get decent speeds was if the AP and the wireless device was in the same room. I tried this both with my laptop with Netgear rangemax as well as my TV's Samsung wireless and no difference. Additionally, the connection was very unstable with lots of disconnects and trouble even getting a stable signal. I returned the unit in favor to try some homeplug AV networking. :(
Other Thoughts: Maybe my environment is unfavorable but I tried anything and everything to get it working at acceptable speeds. Definitely not an upgrade over Wireless G at my house. In fact it was worse.

Pros: I am currently streaming with the Media Extender feature in the XBOX 360 and I am able to watch my recorded HD TV shows in the Bedroom with no problems. Netflix and others stream perfectly in HD. Setup was simple, just click the WPS button on my WNDR3700 router admin page and the button on this device and voila!
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: It has two ethernet ports on the back. I dont need a switch anymore. Faster that Powerline solutions or anything else that I have tried before.

Rating: 5/5WNHDE111
Pros: Incredibly easy to create a wireless bridge using WPS, fast, provides strong connection
Cons: Glossy black surface allows for fingerprints to show up easily, but product itself functions beautifully
Other Thoughts: I picked up two of these to create a wireless bridge between my Xbox 360 upstairs and my non-wireless router downstairs.
Installation and set-up took 3 minutes. All that was required was to simply plug in an ethernet cable, plug in the power cable, and press the WPS button on front to connect both WNHDE111s together.
With its strong, reliable connection and super easy set-up, I would definitely recommend this product for someone looking to set up a wireless bridge.

Pros: 2 built in Ethernet ports so if you just need to bridge 2 systems on the network you can skip the switch.
Range and signal stability with Netgear wap102 running "A" is great
Cons: setup without using WPS button was a pain. had to go through a few steps to even be able to configure it with the included software. ended up getting it to go without the need of the sw and has ran great ever since.
Other Thoughts: wish the unit was a bit smaller but with enclosed antennas its not so bad

Rating: 5/5Really secure 11a WiFi
Pros: A single band 5 GHz access point. As such, easy to implement and configure versus all-in-one wireless routers. Operates far, far away from crowded interference prone 2.4 GHz band.
Cons: None. But I can't vouch for N, bridge and other features as I don't use 'em.
Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace my ages-old DLink 11a WAP having only 156 bit WEP. Now with a long complex WPA2 key, I have a high degree of confidence none of my neighbors will be connecting to steal my broadband. (Especially now that 802.11a is "obsolete" and all recent WiFi toys are 2.4 GHz only.) I also use MAC ACL and the lowest power setting. Regarding the latter, no probs with coverage and throughput on my 1/3 acre property using my Trendnet AR5006XS based laptop PC card.

Pros: I combined this product with Linksys 5.0Ghz router. It works the best. I have my router and the bridge 50 feet or more and they are in different rooms. Many wall in bettwen the two, it still works.
Cons: No problem with Netflix HD Stream movie watch.
Other Thoughts: Netgear is the best bridge regardless. I had it for 6 months or more and still works good. I download file and stream watch without any loss of connection or movie freeze. The light switch to turn off the light for night movie. I ove it.

Pros: A very fast wireless bridge. Probably as good as you could do without running wires, which I didn't wnat to do. Throughput to my remote PC up by a factor of 4 over my old G bridge.
Cons: The only I can think of is I had to upgrade my router to a 5 GHZ model. I could have done without that expense.
Other Thoughts: Once I got the router (a Netgear WNDR3700 - see my review) set up, getting the WNHDE111 to play nice with it was a piece of cake. I dont know how it is as an AP, but as a bridge, it is fantastic.

Pros: Looks Nice, easily hidden in my book shelf. Pairing two of these is super simple, Set switch to auto and press button on front, done.
Cons: Will drop connectivity on occasion, just reboot and we're back. Not sure why it does, but I am usually at work when it does.
Other Thoughts: This bridge enables me to hide away my ESXi servers in another room and network them to an switch and then to one of these units, the other is connected to my original G- router/switch.
Now those mac devices are a little quicker too.

Pros: Looks nice.
Cons: Didn't last a year
Other Thoughts: I bought 2 of these at once to replace some aging buffalo WAPs and for wireless 802.11n connectivity. After 9 months the first one lost it's ability to detect my router's signal. Now, within 2 days of the 1 year aniversary of purchase, the second unit has caught the same affliction. I've tried moving the units around the house and even next to the router; the settings have not changed. You can log into them from a wired connection but they either do not detect the router (which is a Netgear!), or pick up a signal strength of 2% My tiny netbook can pick up the signal at 98% from the same spot, so it's clearly not an interference problem.

Pros: Seemed simple enough to set up. Instructions were ok. Menu was intuitive.
Cons: I couldn't get my Win 7 (64bit) to see the SSID name. My XP could.
I tried every setting combo and searched online and tried multiple settings on Win7; after a couple weeks I was frustrated and RMA'd it.

Rating: 4/5Good product
Pros: Two ethernet ports. Easy setup. Decent performance
Cons: Probably only work with other Netgear products. The private key is generated by entering a pass phrase. Haven't found the actual key yet and don't know how Netgear generate the key based on the phrase. So, don't know how it will work with other product that don't have similar method to generate the private key. But works great with two of the same units.
Other Thoughts: I bought two of these refurbished when there was a combo deal. Works great when you have two, one for access point and one or more for bridge. Setup could be as easy as pressing the button on the bridge and then the button on the AP. The web UI in the firmware allows you to change the SSID, MAC filtering, private key, etc. I am streaming Netflix movies to my BD Player and using the Yahoo widgets on my TV and performance is decent. I liked it so much that I bought another combo deals for the PCs so I can jettison the flaky USB wireless adaptors. One note on setup, I did experienced the 30 min connection drop in the first day. Then realized one of the unit has old firmware installed. Connection remain steady after upgrading the firmware (it's been 2 weeks). Range seems to be less than my G appliances but throughput is still much better than G.

Cons: not a true bridge more a wireless tunnel so you need two of these , although the price of two is about the same as a wireless n adapter for the xbox with a way better antenna and more features so definitely worth the two you have to buy
Other Thoughts: i am having more people coming so live with me soon and they will also have an xbox that will need a wireless signal so i plan on hooking up a switch so i can hook up 4 computers and 3 xboxs, i also plan to use it to kick it old school and have a lan party

Pros: Add internet anywhere!
Cons: A little expensive, but getting cheaper
Other Thoughts: I have a good internet connection in my house, but no cat5 cable running room to room. So I had to do wireless, but PCI cards (gradually moved up to N-class routers and cards over the years) never were 100% reliable. When gaming, invariably you would get some packet loss right when you run around a corner; 2 seconds later you wake up dead.
So I've always been interested in getting some good, reliable connectivity in remote areas of my house.
Put one Netgear router in Access Point mode near your cable router (hook up local PCs to the AP), and then put another Netgear router in Bridge mode somewhere else in your house. Now you have 2 ethernet connections at the remote location, and you can add a router (wireless even) at that location and serve even more people.
I've since added 4 total netgear routers. Two are running Netflix devices, and streaming live DVD quality movies to big lcds. Looks fantastic.

Pros: It does work. To make it work with blueray without stuttering I had to update to beta firmware and set the settings manually. For instance where it says 20/40mhz i changed that to 40mhz only and i do not get stutter. My devices are about 20 feet away (just enough to get through the hallway where I do not want to see a cord).
Cons: Expensive, needs tweaking, requires beta firmware to be used correctly.

Pros: 1) Easy setup (if you're running DHCP and you let the product do the thinking for you). Bridge 1 (auto mode) - While turned off, plug it into the network where DHCP addresses are being served. Turn bridge on. Bridge 2 (auto mode) - While turned off, plug into a network device that needs to use the bridge. Turn on bridge and wait. Eventually the wireless link will be established and the interface on Bridge 2 will reserve an IP address. At this point you can access the web interface for both bridges using a browser. IMHO this is the best place to start if you like to tweak stuff. Get it running; then start tweaking. 2) Fast performance in N-Only mode - At approximately 15-20 feet I was getting roughly 150Mb/sec throughput across the bridge. Not too shabby...when it works
Cons: 1) Inadequate documentation - This is one of those products that's supposed to be smart so you don't have to be. The setup docs don't clearly step you through how setup should happen so you know what to look for if it doesn't or in a "normal" time frame. All the info is there (CD manual & "easy" setup guide (paper) but you have to put it together to get it running. Pro step #1 (see above) took no less than 2 hours mostly because of my impatience. Config changes reset the bridge(30-60 sec); then you had to wait for the 2 bridges to reconnect (180-300 secs); then config the 2nd bridge; reconnect. Ugh. All you see is blinking power lights with no real explanation of what's going on. 2) Disconnects...ALOT - Router seemed stable with v1.2.3_1.0.1 firmware (didn't really test it TBH). After the update to v1.2.7_1.0.1 I get maybe 30 secs before it resets. Doesn't matter what I'm doing (online gaming, accessing files on a server share, video streaming); 30 sec on, 90-120 sec reset). FAIL
Other Thoughts: Essentially this product is supposed to replace a network wire. My expectation was that out of the box it was supposed to work as well (or at least close to as well) as a physical solution. With the current firmware its was not even even close. Based on my past satisfaction with Netgear products I'm happy to update the review if a solution is found (my current post on Netgear's site has been unanswered). I'm not holding out much hope, however. The latest firmware update is from Feb 2008 and the links for the firmware versions they do list are broken.

Pros: Capable of handling HD Video content effectively with no issues.
I've tried others, like the DLink DAP-1522. They were nothing but just, they were not even capable of being feasible replacements for my Wireless-G bridges. Some one in the post I referenced in the link below seems to think that other reviewers have not effectively researched how to implement wireless bridges for multimedia needs.
They are severly mistakened! I am glad to hear that someone was able to find those items useful, but not I. Also, if support is required, you may want to consider products from vendors like NetGear. I have been extremely s
These from NetGear are simple and do work extremely well. Easy to setup, even some one who does not do research in advance could leverage this technology effectively.
Check out the bundle that available: WNHDEB111
Product performs on par with marketing specs. I highly recommend
Cons: Ethernet ports are 10/100Mbs as oppose to 1000Mbs. This does not seem to have any impact on my HD content streaming.
Other Thoughts: I am so impressed how simple these were to setup and with nothing more than using the 1-button setup.
If you buy the bundle, WNHDEB111 (includes two) they will come preconfigured and will work right out of the box.

Pros: Two ethernet ports?
Cons: I bought this device, because I needed a bridge. What I got was a blinking green power light, a Netgear site with broken links and poor documentation (a search on the internet will reveal that this happens often), and a device that doesn't work.
I already have a Netgear router, but apparently that isn't good enough as you need another one of these devices to use it in bridge mode.
Other Thoughts: Don't buy this if you are looking for a bridge - you will not find what you are looking for here.

Pros: I'm sure it's adequate at performing the function its designers apparently intended for it, whatever it may be.
Cons: This is a 5ghz device. It does not work as a WAP unless your devices (in my case, laptops) have a 5GHz radio. I tried plugging this into my wired only router, and couldn't see it on my laptops. Finally figured out that's because the standard frequency for Wifi devices is 2.4 ghz, not 5ghz. (Some have cards that support this frequency, but you'd better make sure that's so before you buy this as a WAP). I saw "wireless N" on the box, and figured "sure, must be b/g compatible, the N thing is new. Turns out it's compatible with the old a standard. Geez. Maybe game boxes have the right radios for this? If so, it's mismarked.

I don't have any interference or obstacles. This is a total disgrace. When I use my laptop with 54G speed, it gets excellent reception. So I don't know how Netgear can advertise 10x the range??
Other Thoughts: Don't waste your money. When I did a google search, apparently many people have the same problem. These units are 5Ghz only, so you don't have any other option.

Rating: 1/5Lacking in all that it brags about
Pros: Easy to set up
Cons: Horrible range, my G routers have better range!!!!! works great if you set them up in the same room, whats the point! I can't believe I wasted many on this garbage, last Netgear product I will EVER purchase. Hooked it up to an existing Apple airport extreme N base and tried to replace a buffalo G bridge for my video server, drops connection, very poor connection, hooked the G back up and continued to enjoy video streaming, boxed and will sell immediately.

Pros: Easy setup...
Cons: I have always had great success with Netgear products in the past! I installed this in a customers home for their Apple laptop to use "N" protocol. The range was so limited I had to downgrade back to "G". The saving grace was the abillity to easily use an additional unit in bridge mode. I will have to reconsider using this product in the future

Pros: Great concept when it works, it works great.
Cons: System would work for an hour, sometimes a day. Inevitably the bridge would just fall off the network. No reason for it, it would just happen. Sometimes it would be while I'm in the middle of watching an HD streaming movie on my HTPC, sometimes it would happen in the middle of the night when there was no traffic whatsoever.
Other Thoughts: Do you research before you buy and only buy from somewhere that you can easily return this to if it doesn't work properly and don't throw away your boxes or receipt for at least a week.

Rating: 4/5Not as powerful as I thought it would be but, still decent
Pros: It works. Easy to administer
Cons: Was expecting it to be more powerful than it was - my linksys gets better signal strength.
Other Thoughts: I can't get my DSi to connect to it - even though it has all the options - push button connect/pin connect etc - couldn't even see the AP - what's up with that?

Rating: 3/5Good not perfect
Pros: 5ghz. 40mhz. supposed to have high thoroughput. Very easy to setup. Can become a bridge which is very nice.
Cons: It does play blueray streams for the most part. I have chopiness here and there when the rate goes too low. It shouldnt be going low with 15-20 feet between the kit but it still does with 100% signal. No idea trying to get support from netgear to help. For This price, hd should work specially since they made it for this.
