so far very unhappy
- Pros: Since the devices really don't work - I would say no pros.
- Cons: Don't work... I would say that is a good con.
- Other Thoughts: Got the device on Friday. Did not work. Spent a few hours on it, upgraded firmware, etc. Called support. Spent 2 hours on a service call (it is now Midnight) and they finally decide that they need an advanced engineer to talk with me. I tell them I need to get some sleep and they said someone would call me Saturday morning at 8am. It is now Sunday at 10am and I am back on hold with support.
On Saturday, I actually got the devices finally acknowledging each other's existance, so I went ahead and set up the network. It now stays up for 1 minute and then is offline for 15 seconds then up for 1 miute then offline for 15 seconds, etc. Totally useless.
I have my laptop hooked up with a continuous ping and I am watching this pattern over and over again.
Awsome
- Pros: EXTREMELY easy to setup. Hook one up to your internet router or modem and the other to your devices press the WDS button wait 1~2 minutes and your all set.
My receiver streams NetFlix and Youtube videos flawlessly. I recommend this highly.
- Cons: Wish it had more Ethernet ports for expandability.
- Other Thoughts: On the default settings the Wifi routers become virtually invisible to the devices there hooked up to. I have an LG LHB977 which is known for being temperamental about wireless routers(it even says so in the manual). The LHB977 works without hitch.
Easy to setup, Fast connection!
- Pros: I've dealt with a lot of WiFi stuff out there and this system is awesome. I have the AP setup upstairs, and the bridge setup downstairs at my main PC with XBOX360. I can stream 1080P content to the Xbox without a hiccup unlike my previous 802.11G setup. I'm able to get around 10magabytes a second out of these! Once you have the SP setup, just click the button on the front of the bridge, then click the button on the front of the Access Point and they sync up in about 2min with the WPA2 (if that's what you configured in the AP). Next you just plug in your XBOX or HTPC or whatever into the Ethernet port on the bridge and POOF high speed low latency connection!
- Cons: Price, No external antenna hookup. That's not a big deal though as I haven't had an issue. A little pricy, I found it for about 30 less at fries (hate fries, but eh). Had to look up the documentation on how to setup the units via the built in help on the web interface of the AP I setup. It has some sort of Auto setup which I didn't try. I setup one as AP, logged into the web interface, set it up, synced with the other one that was in Bridge mode without any issues.
- Other Thoughts: I was thinking of going with a powerline adapter setup, however after finding out that the latency on those things are pretty horrible I stuck with WiFi and I'm glad I did. You could always purchase another single unit and connect it to the AP for another network point all with a click of the button on the front, AWESOME. The XBOX doesn't even know it's on WiFi and my HTPC loves it to.
