does the job, but not all that impressed
- Pros: superbly easy to install. very stable and reliable.
- Cons: the computer is just upstairs and about 20 ft from the adapter that is linked to the router downstairs. the adapters are probably only about 25 feet from each other and share the same wall. still the connection speed is always <50mbps, sometimes <10mbps. it's a little bit of a let down, but it gets the job done.
- Other Thoughts: used them to connect between my computer upstairs and my netgear eva2000 and router downstairs. connecting them with a wireless router wasn't quite cutting it for streaming HD videos from my computer. the powerline adapter is only offering modest speed improvements over the wireless router at the same distance. my house was built in 2007, so i doubt poor wiring is the problem. i think these adapters would have to be sharing the same outlet to approach speeds anywhere near 200 mbps.
Works and is Very Fast out of the box
- Pros: In my home the XAVB101 is very fast. As soon as I plugged in I got a green powerline light indicating an 80 Mbps or faster. I was having difficulties with my PS3 constantly stuttering playing MP3 files using a Wireless N router (PS3 Ethernet connected to a Wireless N router which was then bridged to my main Wireless N router), but there is no stuttering with my PS3 using the XAVB101 setup. I'm also able to enjoy the Netflix on-demand download service without any stuttering, even with HD content. The XAVB101 is a great product. I highly recommend for those who have wireless G or N bandwidth/connectivity issues.

Great out of the box
- Pros: As stated before, connected without a flaw out of the box. Great for users who have a wireless router but get a weak signal at the other end of the house. My floors are concrete in my home and I couldn't receive a decent signal upstairs and kept getting disconnected.
- Cons: Pricey.
- Other Thoughts: If you compair this model with others it states it get more than twice the speed of most similar products. All I know I can watch streaming media upstairs, download videos from my media center PC, and internet downloads all at once without a problem.
