4 out of 5 eggsMore than good enough

Pros: I did a manual setup and it went OK.

Within a few minutes of use, I browsed to the firmware page and upgraded to the latest firmware version. It was automatic, other than having to give permission. One faux pas on my part was to do the upgrade while my laptop was connected wirelessly. No harm seems to have come of it.

Stock firmware is decent and nicely arranged. This device allows AP mode as well as normal router/gateway mode. It also has a guest network feature that can be enabled.

I like how you're not forced to use a 255.255.255.0 net mask; you're allowed to set both the address and the network mask.

Cons: I cannot think of substantial downsides or negatives.

You have no way of changing antennas; they're inside the case.

I want to try installing DD-WRT on this router. However, I received version 4 of the hardware. DD-WRT compatibility tables only go up to version three of this device.

I'm not going to risk bricking my new router, as the stock firmware does what I need.

Other Thoughts: I bought my NETGEAR WNR2000 at a local store. I'm satisfied with it.

Router firmware has come a long way since my last router purchase six years ago.

1 out of 5 eggsVery disappointed

Pros: Inexpensive. Easy setup.

Cons: The router setup went smoothly, but the router was constantly power cycling. It would work for about 2 minutes and then reset itself. All the lights on the front blinked off, then the power light came on followed eventually by the internet light then the wifi light. After a few minutes, the cycle repeats itself.

Other Thoughts: I should have known better than to buy a Netgear product.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi,

Have you tried doing the 30-30-30 reset:
http://forum1.netgear.com/showthread.php?t=62062
1. With the router powered on, hold the reset button in for 30 seconds
2. Continue to hold the reset button in and power down the router
3. Wait 30 seconds while continuing to hold the reset button, then power on the router
4. Continue to hold the reset button in for a final 30 seconds then release
5. Wait for the router to reset and reboot, allow to settle for several minutes

1 out of 5 eggsComplete piece of junk

Pros: The wired ports function.
It looks cool.

Cons: Range.
Range.
Range.
Range.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace an old Linksys G router (that iconic blue box with two antennae). I never thought that the Linksys was anything special, but when I put this Netgear in, my wireless coverage plummeted.

Basically, if you can see the router and you can read the writing on it, then your wireless device will get adequate signal. If you can't, then you'll be at ~1 bar. For me, this was about 20 feet!!!!

I replaced this with an Amped router and the coverage is outstanding.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great so far

Pros: Covers 2 story house. no need for an access point upstairs. Idiot proof setup.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: This router works great for me. East setup. I use this mostly for internet surfing and watching videos. I do not have a wi-fi TV so I cannot comment on that. I have not had any of the problems as some of the other users.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: No setup needed and WPS.

Cons: Case feels a little cheap, and, while not really a con for most, the antenna is internal so I can't do the tinfoil range extender trick.

5 out of 5 eggsN300

Pros: Good though-put, distance, and aesthetics. Very good price.

Cons: I don't know if it is Cox, the Motorola Modem, or the Router, but a few times a day I lose the connection. I'm quite handy with this stuff but cannot isolate the issue, troubleshooting continues because I hate having streaming video interrupted.

Other Thoughts: Definitely a good buy.

4 out of 5 eggsFairly decent for the price

Pros: For the price, it has a pretty good range with solid reliability (Usually, more about this in cons) and speed. Easy to set up. While some people don't like the shiny bezel since they gather finger prints easily, I think it looks fantastic.

Cons: Roughly once a night (And it's almost always while Im asleep) something acts up and it stops broadcasting wireless. This goes across multiple devices so I know it's not just the wireless in one of my things being wonky. A simple reset of the router makes it start broadcasting though, so it's not the biggest deal in the world.

Other Thoughts: All in all, I don't regret the purchase (especially after considering it was on sale for ~$35 off). Pretty good router, would feel flawless if not for that one issue.

5 out of 5 eggsFor all my uses, it works great

Pros: I live in a big house with many people and there is shared wi-fi. The wi-fi is really bad (it wireless g, the hub is no where near me, and everyone uses it). I also have direct access to internet through ethernet in my room and I decided to hook it up to this product so I can work wireless. Results:

It works great, compared to what I had before, it's a dream come true. No complaints, no problems. It even works better around the house than the house's wifi. This is why I gave it 5 stars. If you're looking for something more, not sure if you would like it as much as me.

Cons: none for me

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Get's the job done, I've had it for over a year. Only rebooted it every 3 months or so, does not overheat.

Cons: Wireless signal drops by a considerable amount over a short distance, approximately 15 ft?

Router can not handle a load of traffic, I have the bandwidth 50Mbps(6.25MBps) , but if I have the TV streaming service at about 800KBps, and voIP set up, the lag is noticeable on wifi

Other Thoughts: It's for the simple home
