Great at first, bad idea after 4 months
- Pros: Left a review back in December 2008 (when I got the unit) saying I was happy. I've had good luck with every Netgear I've ever owned for the past few years.
- Cons: Got it in December 2008, began the process of death in March 2009. Now, middle of April 2009, it has died the good death. Started needing reboots about once a week after 3 months. The need for reboots has become increasing common - now it needs it every day if not more than once a day. I've decided to toss it.
- Other Thoughts: It's a shame - Netgear used to be a great brand. I've noticed reviews of Netgear products going steadily downhill over the years and didn't think anything of it due to my (what I now realize) good luck. Now I've been lumped in with everybody else in realizing Netgear's quality has gone to shambles in recent time. I won't be buying Netgear again - not just because of this experience, but because of the increasingly-common negative reviews I've read about just about all of their products here at Newegg and other sites. Due to the reviews of Netgear's recent customer service quality I've also decided that it isn't worth the headache & heartache of working through the warranty process. So, it's going in the trash & I'll buy another brand.
Stable and Reliable
- Pros: I could talk in high level networking jargon, but I am not going to. I believe this is one of the easiest and most reliable routers I have ever used. Configuration is a snap whether or not you are a beginner or an advanced user. I am well satisfied with the WNR2000. My previous experiences are that some routers are a little "hateful" if you will on setup, not this one.
Wireless range for this router is about average. I was expecting a little more. But I can not complain too much for a single level house. Wireless reception is great in every room.
- Cons: I can only think of two cons at this moment. The first con is the plastic housing. I think the housing could be made stronger. Feels flimsy, but that says nothing about what is under the hood. Still is a great router. The second con is the range. For the price you would expect a little better range.
- Other Thoughts: This is a top winner in my book on routers. I have delt with two other major brands and I would stack the NetGearWRN2000 against them. I highly recommend you try this router.

Great router
- Pros: This router has been running 24/7 for over a year now and have never had any problems. Super fast N-connectivity, easy to set up, lots of features.
- Cons: None.
Works well... just not with XBox Wireless N-Adapter
- Pros: Simple install, cool design w/ internal antennas, strong signal performance and range.
- Cons: Only does mixed mode signal.
- Other Thoughts: Only network mode options are 54Mb/s, 150Mb/s, and 300Mb/s. No options based on actual B, G, or N modes. Only sends mixed mode signals. I bought a wireless N adapter for my XBox360, and the only signal it would pick up is G. Tried Netgear tech support, and they said that it wasn't possible to send just an N signal. Purchased a D-Link DIR-655 and my XBox360 now picks up the N signal, even in mixed mode. Go figure. Ended up RMAing the Netgear.
Great priced, powerful router
- Pros: size is small and stackable. no weird shapes or antennaes as with other routers. fast speed, easy to use. looks good on the desk.
- Cons: Vista 64 problem prevents using the easysetup wizard. I programmed mine manually and it was fine, but Netgear doesn't offer a lot of help on their website.
