5 out of 5 eggsGood Entry Model

Pros: Maybe I've been the exception, but I have had great experience with my router. Bought this back in March of 2009, during the first couple of months, there were a couple of reset's required, but since then, this has been a smooth running experience. Wife's VIAO has experienced download speeds as high as 2.3MB/Sec (Though average is around 1.2MB/Sec) We live in a two story home, about 1800SqFt, Have had great reception trough entire house. Have not had heat problems, it actually sits on my office desk tucked behind the LCD, and next to the cable modem. Network communication with other PC's in the home and networked printers has been as expected or better.

Cons: Didn't come with a XBox 360.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat router

Pros: Great wireless router, very easy to install and set up. Directions concise and easy to understand. Adding other devices simple--just hold down button for a few seconds. Excellent range on first floor where router is, very good range on second floor.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: For a person who does not have much background in technology this was a great find.

1 out of 5 eggsBi-Weekly Restarts Required...

Pros: Looks pretty I guess.

Cons: Connection degrades after a day or two. Bi-weekly restarts required for a consistent connection. Wireless configuration is goofy too. Has all sorts of extra garbage as 'features' which just make things un-necessarily complex. Not impressed at all.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Router

Pros: I have had this router up and running for about 10 months now and have had no problems at all. It has good range and does not drop connections. Set up was easy and this was my first wireless router config. The firmware update was easy as well and it works well with my VOIP set up as well.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This seems to be a good entry level router for home networking with decent range and good connection speeds. I connect with one laptop at 300 and the other at 270. For the price this is a good buy!!!

5 out of 5 eggsMoney Well Spent

Pros: Easy Setup, Fast Speed, No Brain surgery required to setup security either (Thanks to NewEgg & UPS for the awesomely fast shipping too!), blew "Burst Buy" out of the water in regards to price.

Cons: None (yet)

Other Thoughts: New owner, but as long as this router keeps cruising along like it is, I'll be a happy camper.

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of Junk!

Pros: It worked for about 2 days...

Cons: Where to Start? Horrible Wifi reception even on N capable devices, it pops in and out. Range is way less than advertised. I.E. The router is in the living room on the first floor in a 2 story house(plus basement). Everything within 30-40 feet works fine, go outside that range and wifi slows to a crawl.(Not even bridges helped) On second floor I have no reception in any room. Keeps reseting priority listings. I have a work desktop and 4 laptops, everytime more than 2 people are on wi-fi my speed drops from a solid 5mbps to a paltry 512kbps.(Cable Internet at 6mbp's). Poor instructions(Even for the technically inclined). But most of all what takes the cake is the Horrible Support. I spent nearly 10 hours over the past week with Netgear support overseas. Not one person could resolve my issues. Ontop of that the reception was so poor that I lost connection to netgear several times. What's worse is that everytime you call netgear even for pre-sales, all of their call centers are overseas.

Other Thoughts: I just cameback from the store and exchanged this router. I bought it barely a week ago as an emergency buy from a local retailer. Set it up and it was working well on Ethernet ports for about 2 days, until the router kept having to be reset to even connect to anything. Everytime I went on with my laptop I had to reset and re-do the router installation. Which only helped till the next time anyone went online... QoS setup is horrible. I tried to limit the Wifi speed to 512k, but it affected the Ethernet ports which were supposed to be highest priority.

Support was useless, They could'nt help me with anything. Waiting 45 minutes to even get someone who barely spoke english with such a heavy accent that only annoyed me even further.

It's a shame though. I used to use only netgear products since college, but no more. The horrible customer service and support has turned me off for ever!

I miss my old 'D' brand router. One problem and it was quickly solved by support in the good ol
