5 out of 5 eggsGreat router with DD-WRT

Pros: Great router. With DD-WRT really shines. I was having trouble in a brick house with some electrical wiring between the access point and part of the dwelling where I wanted access. This router solves the problem and more. I paired it with an Airlink wireless bridge and the connection is rock solid.

Cons: Internal antennas, so they're not easily swappable or adjustable. However, folks have modified this router and soldered external antennas.

Other Thoughts: After installing this router, I haven't had any need to do reboots, edit the settings, etc. I did install DD-WRT, mostly for the learning experience.

4 out of 5 eggsGOOD ROUTER

Pros: Bought two of these used , flashing to dd-wrt was as easy as could be, made one the router and one the repeater bridge and they work great !

Cons: Large but still not that bad looking.

Other Thoughts: You can find these routers for very little money nowadays and once flashed are very good.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: This router works great! I have no problems with it. The Wireless reaches further than any other router I've seem to come across for the money.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I was planning on using this just for an upstairs router since it wouldn't reach in the basement, but this one works on every floor of the house.

1 out of 5 eggsTotal Carp

Pros: It powered up the first time I plugged it in.
The lights on the front are real pretty.

Cons: ... all it does is light up. Infact the power light didn't even work. It was really dim. (the rest come on and stay on)
Does not detect any network.
Does not transmit any data.
Cannot open config. utility.
Not even heavy enough to make a decent paperweight...
Totally DOA.

Other Thoughts: Its a refurb so its to be expected that there be a few flawed units. I am in the process of RMA and will post another review when it comes.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat DD-WRT Router!

Pros: This is 2nd one of these I've purchased. The first one I've had running for over 9 months using DD-WRT. I've owned many routers in the past, from Buffalo, D-Link, Linksys, etc. and this BY FAR is the most STABLE router I've used. I can't say enough great things about this router. Now again this is using DD-WRT, as soon as I unboxed this router I plugged it up and flashed it with DD-WRT. I've used other Netgear routers in the past and have not been happy with the factory firmware (but to be honest after using DD-WRT I pretty much hate any factory firmware at this point and refuse to buy a router that is not DD-WRT compatible).

Also I must say that flashing DD-WRT on this device is SO easy compared to other routers, like the Linksys WRT54G is much more difficult along with some of the Asus ones having to flash back to an older firmware first, then flash the DD-WRT software.

Now I'm on my 2nd one, I gave my original one to my parents because their D-Link WBR-2310 was giving issues.

Cons: None at all... when using DD-WRT with this router. I can't speak for the factory firmware because I never used it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Router

Pros: Router provides great distance. Connection with N speed at 300 Mbps with ny N wireless adapter. Has PS3,Wii, 2 Desktop computers, along with 5 wireless computers. No drops or d/c.

Cons: None at all.

Other Thoughts: Prefer using web base manual setup than using CD.

5 out of 5 eggsRock solid performance

Pros: This is rock solid with DD-WRT. I’ve bought five (3 for friends), and they just run; none have had problems. I have one as the main AP, and the other as a “Client Bridge” in the living room connected to a desktop, an Xbox, and a DirecTV receiver. All devices are on the same subnet. It runs cool. The new Linksys design runs hot. Great signal

Cons: No gigabit ports. Only 2.4 GHz. A little larger than most. None of these are really a negative for me, though.

Other Thoughts: It doesn’t’ matter that they’re refurbished. I have not had one fail, yet. It’s rare to find Wireless N for only $30. Great value.

4 out of 5 eggsBuy this for DD-WRT

Pros: Decent 802.11n router out of the box. But best of all, it's easy to set up with the micro DD-WRT package. The functionality of the router with DD-WRT is outstanding! In the almost year of ownership I have not once needed to power cycle the router for any reason other than my ISP being wonky. Solid as a rock.

Cons: No gigabit ethernet ports. What the heck?? The router is capable of 300mbps 802.11n speeds... but data from a wired ethernet port limits it to 100mbit?? Dumb design. I guess if you are transferring data between wireless devices only you could see full 802.11n speeds.

Other Thoughts: As long as you don't require more than 100mbps between wired and wireless devices, it is a solid router to put DD-WRT on. One less egg for not having gigabit ethernet ports.
