It's pretty good, better than 802.11g
- Pros: A firmware upgrade brings this product to the FINALIZED VERSION OF 802.11N. So don't mind the title which says it's only a Draft 2.0. Look on Netgear's website it will tell you the same thing.
-Connect at 300mbps -Good Range
- Cons: -Not the huge upgrade I expected
- Other Thoughts: When you get the router, upgrade the firmware and it will give you the finalized version of wireless n.
Fast, but range not the best
- Pros: Really fast and stable. Easy setup. Looks good.
- Cons: Range not great. No Wireless G for broader compatibility.
- Other Thoughts: Was sent this new from Newegg by my company.
Comparing this to other B and G APs in the house, the range on this is considerably shorter. For example, in my basement office I have an Airport Extreme that I can connect to from the 3rd floor master bedroom.
The Netgear, however, only maintains a good connection to my Macbook Pro if I am on the same floor as the AP. If I go one floor up or down, I can connect, but not for long before it is dropped.
Great in a smaller place, or perhaps one with a large open floor plan.
Awesome Deal
- Pros: Figured it was worth the risk to try this since it was so inexpensive. Saw the exact same router for sale at wallie world for $80 (except brand new). Have had this router running perfectly smooth for about 4 months seamlessly. Connects to my computers at 300mbs, my cellphone via G, hardwired and sometimes wirelessly to my PS3, plus a few other pieces of hardware (satellite receiver, etc) without a hitch. Couldn't be more pleased.
- Cons: It wasn't free. But it was close.
- Other Thoughts: Can't believe that for this price, I have got a perfectly smooth network. Signal strength is unbelievable. Has never dropped a signal... crossing fingers and touching wood!
