4 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: Great value for 8 PoE ports. Will power 8 class 2 PoE devices at once. Bought this for my security camera network, each camera draws 4.6W, so it's a perfect fit and a great price for what you get. Most of the other switches in this price range only have 4 PoE ports.

Cons: Management software requires windows.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY

Pros: Looks good on paper.

Cons: Garbage reliability.

Other Thoughts: We bought 15 of these to place in small offices. Of the 15, 3 worked out of the box. The other 12 had some combination of dead ports. Lifetime warranty is great, but the cost in labor to swap them out, mail them in, chase the RMA paperwork, etc. is more than the switch is worth. Bad buy.

5 out of 5 eggsGood product

Pros: It works even if you do not set up the device. No need to update the firmware. It runs very well on my server network. I use Netgear for many years and never got any problems.

Cons: N/A.

Other Thoughts: Port one was disabled when I logged on the switch first time. I re-enbaled it then it looks ok now. It is default maybe.

4 out of 5 eggsMisleading PoE Functionatlity

Pros: IF YOU ONLY NEED 3 SIMULTANEOUS PoE 802.3af ports!

Cons: 46W total PoE budget... you have to read between the lines to establish that although this switch it advertised as 8-Port PoE you can only have THREE (3) ports actively drawing PoE power simultaneously.

15.4 x 3 = 46.2W

Other Thoughts: I called Netgear Support and verified this... it's a solid product but if you want full 8-Port 802.3af this is NOT the one.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Switch For The Price

Pros: Full 8 port Gb POE with 2 GBIC with Lifetime Warranty for under $200 is a steal and I got them at $140 each. Once NewEgg drops them down again I will be buying more and replacing many a switch.

Cons: None to be found...

5 out of 5 eggsBest Value

Pros: If you are looking for an 8 port full PoE switch thats addressable this is the one. I didn't plan on using the software included for locating and addressing the devices (purchased 6) but I did and found it to be outstanding! Not only could I quickly address the devices but I could also label them with thier location. Programming 6 of these used at the same property took less than 10 minutes!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I was planning to purchase a similarly functioning Cisco switch but took a chance and tried this. I'm sold! Comparing price and functionality I think it will be hard to find a better value at this price point.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Well

Pros: Works very well. Up and running with default config in minutes.

Hint - The switch will use DHCP by default on startup so I checked the DHCP leases on my DHCP server software in my router. I did not need to use Netgear's software to "find it" on my network.

Cons: Some of the technical aspects of this switch are not intuitive. That's not a knock on the product but on the fact this switch includes many features that are generally called "advanced".

Web interface can be slow at times to respond, but not so slow that I would take off a star.

Other Thoughts: Take the time to read the manual before changing any otions from default. If something doesn't make sense, read it again. If it still doesn't make sense, don't change it. IMHO the device defaults are conservative and should work in most if not all cases.
