1 out of 5 eggsWish other good luck

Pros: Easy setup.

Cons: Not reliable. Unpredictable.

Other Thoughts: I owned two of these units. The first one was practically DOA (the on-board connectors did not work, just the wireless repeating capability). The second unit worked for a couple weeks and then failed. Both of the connections (wired and wireless) allow connections from equipment, but neither connection type will permit internet access. I give up and will stop buying Netgear equipment in the future.

1 out of 5 eggsBe Warned!

Pros: Attractive

Cons: Do not buy this product new or refurbished!
I purchased a new, version 2, model and all the negative comments you have read here and elsewhere are right on. I have considerable knowledge of computer and network technology and the problems being reported are with the hardware and technical support, not with the customer. My unit is still under warranty and I have the free technical support; it's useless. They will never admit that the product is defective even though there are hundreds of reports (Google the model number) complaining of the same problems. After a dozen or more email exchanges, customer support leads you in circles ignoring what has already been tried and failed sticking to their resolution scripts which do not include "it's broken, please return it for a replacement". I have managed a help desk for years and know exactly what's going on. Netgear has made an inferior product, outsourced support to India, given them a problem protocol, and left them to shield the company from unhappy customers and product returns. I would not normally take this much effort to write such a review, but this company deserves no respect or customer loyalty.

1 out of 5 eggsBad experience

Pros: Super fast delivery

Cons: The product never worked, called support at Netgear-was advised to return the product. Newegg charged me restocking fees plus extra charge to print their own return label.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Anonymous.

We’re glad that you contacted our support team right away and thank you for your patience so far. It seems like they advised you to get a new unit -- did you simply return it, or did you see if a replacement would work for you?

If you do need additional assistance, please email us at netgear@newegg.com, and please include the case number you were given by support.

Regards,

NETGEAR Team

1 out of 5 eggsNot a good product even worse Customer service

Pros: Has 4 Ethernet ports.

Cons: I'll have one year of ownership on January 16th, 2013. And this product has failed a few days before new years eve.
When it did work it would occasionally lose connection to my access point, which is in the next room.

I have tried factory resetting the device many times. It doesn't work. I cannot access the web GUI for this device at all. I have tried connecting to all the ethernet ports in case one is bad, even tried it with two other computers. No luck.

NETGEAR customer service is also terrible. I told them exactly these things and of course their first email says to factory reset the device, understandable.

I tried again with their instructions, I even used a timer to get the 20 seconds in holding in the reset switch down. (Their instructions say hold it 20 seconds).

I let them know it didn't work.

Their followup email says to factory reset the device and update the firmware.

Its as if their only answer is to factory reset. Had they even read my emails to them, they would see i said I cannot factory reset the device and cannot connect to the GUI.

Other Thoughts: I use to like Netgear, and have owned many products, but after dealing with their customer service I do not think I'll buy another Netgear product. I still have a Netgear Wireless B router, at my parents place, that's still working and its over 10 years old.

When the device was working it would often drop the connection.

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsCompleted My Network

Pros: My room is on the other end of the house and a layer above my router. It successfully gives me an excellent connection by taking the signal of my router on the 1st floor and boosting it across the second floor. It is directly above my router on the second floor.

Cons: Sometimes it likes to dip out and needs reset. This happens almost weekly but sometimes goes much longer without needing reset. My main router needs reset often as well so if something goes wrong I usually reset them both, but for me it's not a big deal.

Other Thoughts: I was so happy when I could connect to the internet in my bedroom.

1 out of 5 eggsBiggest piece of $#!^ ever

Pros: NONE

Cons: I bought it couple years ago, it worked for ehh maybe couple months, then it quit....it is impossible to get in www.mywifiext.net, I googled it and there is a lot of people with the same problem, I try to fix it on and of, for next couple years.....and today I decided to call techinical support......well after 1.5h talking to service I gave up, i'm sure not even Netgear knows how to fix it, so I't throwing it away and not buying any Netgear product EVER F U Netgear!!!!

4 out of 5 eggs3 month lifespan

Pros: Pretty good little box. Super light and it will do it's job.

Cons: Died after three months. For the price I would say it was about right. definitely going to get something with more longevity next time though.
