5 out of 5 eggsMine has been great!

Pros: Works exactly as it should. Connects at 300Mbps to my N300 Netgear router. Activity light actually shows activity!

Also I am getting sustained PC-to-PC file copy speeds of 6.5MB to 7MB (yes megabyte) per second with this device. Not bad at all for WiFi considering I was getting 2MB/s max when my house was on 54G

Cons: Requires software update out of the box, and in order to get the connection at its best you definitely have to fiddle with the device settings (which this device has a TON of). Can't remove an egg for this because once it's config'd its awesome.

Other Thoughts: Seems like a lot of people have problems with these. I think a lot of that may lie in the configuration. I'm using one with zero problems on Win7 Pro x64.

Being that I also have a Netgear WNR2000v3 router, this is probably benefitting me. Both the router and adapter use Broadcom chips, so they do seem to work well together.

Also I have an On-Networks N300MA n300 wifi usb dongle on another PC in the house, which from what I've read is actually a refurbished version of the WNA3100, and that model gets great reviews. I really thing a lot of the problems have to do with your overall network configuration.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Just works, plug and play in all Netgear home network. I have 2 of these now, one running on Windows 7 and one on Windows XP.

Cons: Power saving feature of Windows 7 caused network to drop each time computer woke-up. Had to change power savings settings to "don't save power" to make sure the connection remained after wake-up.

Other Thoughts: Netgear's support site easily helped walk me thru the power saving solution. I will most likely only buy Netgear products in the future.

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth it if you need long-term wireless

Pros: Cheap, works well when it is new

Cons: Does not have a long life expectancy. When it finally dies, it sputters rather than just dying and letting you know that it is time for a new wireless nic.

Other Thoughts: I've had two of these. The first lasted me about a year and a half, but was rather touchy the last couple of months. I have a second now and it is finally starting to die after about 6 months. I'm not expecting one that will last for 10 years, but when you have a house with roommates over wireless, you need the wireless card to work.

1 out of 5 eggsAbsolute worst!

Pros: Non-explosive

Cons: I didn't get this from Newegg,, but what a piece of JUNK! For 2 days it worked with Windows 7 x64 after installing the drivers from the disk. When I tried to do a backup onto a network drive my connection dropped after about an hour. I deleted the partial backup and started over - same problem. I wasn't sure what caused it, so I decided to give up for now.

Internet access also worked fine for the first couple of days. Suddenly it started randomly disconnecting, then within 3 days just refused to download any web pages. It just sits there trying and then times out with an error.

Sometimes it will randomly drop my internet connection and nothing will bring it back except unplugging the adapter and plugging it into a different USB port.

I have another computer with the same OS, on the same network, with a Linksys adapter, and it works flawlessly.

I have tried everything, and mind you, I am a systems analyst and work with networks every day.

Absolute JUNK!!

Other Thoughts: Now I've been cursing this thing out for over a week and I give up. Going back to the store right now to return it Netgear has lost me as a customer.

1 out of 5 eggsNO LINUX SUPPORT!

Pros: NONE

Cons: This thing has no absolutely no linux support what so ever, no linux driver, none of the WNA*100 or N*00 cards work on linux, i have the N900, a $70 adapter and it's worthless and the retailer i got it from wouldn't take it back because there was nothing physically wrong with it. This thing is a junk, linux users beware...stay away from netgear!

5 out of 5 eggsWow

Pros: I got this about 3 days ago but haven't used it. See other thoughts for more.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The only reason I purchased this item was because my motherboard I purchased had a defective LAN port so I wasn't able to connect to the internet. The adapter is my back up internet connection just in case my motherboard breaks again so I won't have to buy a brand new one just to connect to the internet.

4 out of 5 eggsIt works well for me

Pros: Easy to install, nice cradle, long enough USB cable

Cons: Keeps screen saver from coming on, comp also won't go into sleep mode

Other Thoughts: The only thing that drives me nuts is that it won't let either my XP or Win7 system sleep/hibernate.

1 out of 5 eggsTerribad.

Pros: Decent range
Good connection (when you have it)

Cons: Disconnects CONSTANTLY
Doesn't turn on when plugging in sometimes

Other Thoughts: The disconnections really did it in for me. I'd leave my computer running with a rather long down/up-load, only to find it stopped and deleted when I'd come back to it a while later. During the middle of online games, in an intense firefight, the connection would again disconnect out of nowhere and i'd lose my position in the game. In the middle of browsing the web or watching a video, the buffering and downloading of the page would halt. Honestly, i'd rather have a slower connection that was more consistant and reliable than have a faster connection like this one that you have to unplug and plug back in over and over when it loses a connection every 10 minutes, or reboot the computer so that it doesn't happen again temporarily. The speed was great, the reliability of the connection was not. Look elsewhere for another adapter. I can't wait till I can throw this peice of junk in the rubbish.

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of crud!! Run Away

Pros: Cool Blue LED activity Light, Stylish looks and cradle with approx 3 feet of USB 2.0 Cable allows ytou to place anywhere on your desk.

Cons: I was consitantly losing Signal, I'm 5 feet from the Router and wanted to avoid a cast5 visible " I have cord/cable phobea" Well after 62 days the thing just went up in a puff of smoke, no power, windows cant see it, Netgear software cant see it, So now I have a $30 3 foot ! usb port switch. I work too hard for my money for this kind of cruddy product.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat with 4G Air Card

Pros: Works consistently well with Verizon (samsung) 4G card in an older P4 desktop running 32 bit XP sp3. Installed drivers using CD and never looked back.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Customer had tried several other USB adapters with no connection consistency. I have always had good luck with Netgear products.
As always NewEggs Shipping Dept. Rocks!
