4 out of 5 eggsProblems???

Pros: Very Fast
Expected less & got more
Very good for streaming media - NETFLIX
Good range - I can be out on the street almost 100' away & my phone stays connected

Cons: The software is nice to look at & gives you all you need, but it's confusing. It took over an hour to get the setup I wanted.

Other Thoughts: Just a thought - the negative comments here could be a set up issue. It was for me, - 1 egg
Firmware Version
V1.1.00.12_1.00.12NA did fix some issues & should be installed ASAP if you have an older version.
Rubber feet? Lay this flat? I don't think this device was intended to lay flat - it will get warm in a vertical position, flat, it could get hot. The stand is secured with screws with the intention of staying on IMHO.

3 out of 5 eggsNot made for businesses

Pros: Intuitive and easy-to-navigate GUI

Cons: Wi-Fi cannot browse the local network if you are not using DHCP on the router to handle your IP addressing. This is a crucial flaw that means no one in my work network can use the wireless, as I have a separate Windows server handling DHCP duties.

The Netgear N600 will not pass traffic to the rest of the network unless you use the DHCP function on the router. This is not an option for me (or anyone else who uses a Windows domain with DHCP and DNS communicating with each other).

Other Thoughts: I have two Linksys WRT54G routers from 2004 and a 4-year old D-Link touer that can do thiswith no problems, but not this $150 router made in 2012. So the result here is that I have to turn off Wi-Fi on this brand new modem/router and use five year old equipment to act as a Wi-Fi access point. This issue is the top thread on the Netgear support forums and to date there is no solution.

1 out of 5 eggsDGND3700v2 - not wort my time or money

Pros: Specs on paper look great - as a matter of fact I have a hard time finding an alternative dual band gigabit ADSL modem/router. Decent admin GUI. From my brief experience WiFi works well on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.

Cons: ADSL modem does not work with AT&T. Genie software tries to autoconfigure the modem but in the end tells the DSL cable is not plugged in. All this while the DSL light is steady green. Only once in 4 hours of time I wasted on this piece of hardware did the connection succeeded. After powercycling it all went back to bad. Configuring DSL parameters manually does not help.

Other Thoughts: Upgrading to the latest firmware 1.1.00.12 does not help.
Conclusion: not worth my time or money.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsEnduser

Pros: None at the moment until I can get it installed and running...

Cons: Well if Newegg RMA ever gets their act together and read my RMA instructions and send me the correct version then I be inclined to revisit my review and update it. Also not sure what wires were crossed but customer service needs to correctly pass the information to RMA department so they would send a v.2 unit not resending another v.1 unit again....

Other Thoughts: Very bad RMA exchange process. I am not sure what is going on but I had requested that I be sent a unit was 2TX prefixes to qualify it is a v.2 model of the dual band. Of which was to replace the v.1 unit that I read had caused so much problem with buyers that Netgear updated the unit to a v.2 model but so far my 1st RMA has them sending me another v.1 model when I had requested that they read the instructions and make sure that they were sending me a v.2 unit not a v.1 that was giving those buyers so much problems. Netgear needs to contact Newegg and tell them to stop selling the v.1 and make sure they are selling a v.2 unit to current buyers and not try to pass a v.1 to them constantly.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsWorked poorly, then not at all

Pros: Service scheduling (i.e. disable internet between certain hrs)
Coordination with OpenDNS

Cons: Required frequent re-booting

Other Thoughts: Unit (DGND3700) was purchased to upgrade from basic 2Wire modem supplied by AT&T. Was looking for more control and functionality. Netgear router was much more unstable than 2Wire, requiring frequent re-booting. It would then not recognize any DSL signal (never mind connect to internet), where the 2Wire would get signal and connect right away with same cable. Tech support was useless...just read the manual, offering Level 1 at an extra charge. Why throw good money after bad. I guess I will just stick to basic 2Wire modem/router.

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggsShould of got something else

Pros: Easy setup. All the bells and whistles.

Cons: Constantly drops connection. I have to reset device five or six times a day. Even left all by itself it drops connection. Which makes it agravating to use my internet phone. How do I know if someone is calling if I am in the other room and the connection has dropped? My last NetGear never dropped connections. I am disappointed with this. So much money for something that does not work like it should.

Other Thoughts: I purchased the three year warranty so maybe this one will blow itself up.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Mrnotu,
We would like to apologize for the constant dropped connection that you report--we want to help. Please feel free to contact our tech support team when you have a chance, and they’ll be happy to get some initial troubleshooting going for you!

1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy this

Pros: Worked OK for a while.

Cons: Died after 9 months. It also does not have any more wireless range than their cheaper models. I specifically bought this for the supposed increased range, but that claim is not accurate. Worked OK with their wireless range extender, at least until it crapped out.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Smedley.
We are sorry for the issues that you are having and we’d like to help. You can contact our support team and see what options are open to you. Thank you for choosing NETGEAR!

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: increased my internet speed and I actually get ~3 Mbps on wireless (planning on changing ISP once contract is over). very easy to set up private and guest networks. I think usb can be used to set up a printer now but haven't tried it. Haven't used it for gaming but plan to as soon as I change ISP and get higher speeds. Overall big difference from 2Wire modem/router given by ATT in Southern California.

Cons: As other people mentioned it's too much plastic for the price. There are times the modem fails to connect to the internet and I have to refresh the connection but it could also be a problem with ISP. The rj14 cable provided is too short so be sure phone outlet is no more than 3 ft. away.

Other Thoughts: I'll probably update this review once I change ISP and try out some of the other features.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Anonymous,
We thank you for your detailed and honest review. It sounds like the router is working well, but we’re concerned about the disconnect issues that you’re seeing from time to time. Please contact our phone or online support team for further assistance.
Regards,
NETGEAR Team
