1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: looks nice

Cons: isn't compatible with latest WiDi. Tried using it with my new laptop which does support WiDi. I could see the device, but each time I attempted to connect, it wouldn't connect, then would disappear. after hours of reading online, still have not been able to get it to work.

4 out of 5 eggs720p only no 1080 support

Pros: Intel Wireless display is great. It requires almost no setup and is up and running in seconds. Simply turn it on, and it displays a pin number on the TV, type the pin number into the laptop and you're done. Guests can easily connect without any complicated re-configuration.

Cons: Failed to check specs before I ordered. This model only does 720p it does not do 1920x1080.
It requires a computer with an Intel wifi card that specifically supports Intel WiDi. Also requires Intel's wireless display software to work... Not sure if it can work in linux.. haven't checked.

Other Thoughts: It does not connect to your wireless network. It is a direct device-to-device connection from your (laptop) to the box. Yes, you do remain connected to your wifi network while using the wireless display.

1 out of 5 eggsLaptop won't connect

Pros: Cheap after sale and rebate. Powers on and does send a HDMI signal to the monitor.

Cons: Doesn't actually work. Laptop (yoga 2 pro; win 8.1) can't find it.

Other Thoughts: Wouldn't it be nice if netgear hadn't taken down the compatibility list on their website when the ptv3000 came out? Now I paid good money for useless hardware which "should" work, but doesn't.

2 out of 5 eggsUnreliable

Pros: Permits convenient remote wireless display (WiDi) on compatible laptops that contain the required Intel WiDi chipsets.

Cons: Freezes display randomly or disconnects during movie playback.

Other Thoughts: I upgraded the firmware as recommended. I have three of these. The first one I purchased two years ago and the other two more recently from NewEgg. The latter two have 1080p resolution so I thought they may be better than the older 720p version. No such luck. At any distance from 12 inches to 25 feet away from laptop the same problem (gets worse with distance) where the display freezes for about one minute during moving playback, and then I have to rewind to see what I missed.

5 out of 5 eggsHappily surprised

Pros: Attractive design, easy setup, works exactly as expected. Beautiful picture with no issues

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I was pleasantly surprised by this unit. I'd read of some users having connectivity issues but when I found it on a special deal I couldn't pass it up. it was easy to connect to my tv, easy to set up with the Intel software (even updated the firmware for me), and has worked perfectly so far.

3 out of 5 eggs2 peice solution

Pros: widi

Cons: older tech

Other Thoughts: I was checking the reviews and I wanted to clarify something for people. WiDi is a 2 part solution in your laptop. 1) is the intel chip 2) is a special Broadcom wifi chip. Just because you have i5 or i7 doesn't mean anything. If your laptop came with widi software you have it. If not its doubtful.
There is some lag to the tech as people have said. the 1000 version is 720p the 2000 version is 1080. Not sure what changed in the 3000

3 out of 5 eggsCore i5 owners--READ--

Pros: Price was right (counting the rebate), Used up all that spare time I had just lying around.

Cons: It is a retired (or soon to be) model as I discovered while troubleshooting. The new model appears to address the difficulties I encountered.
Firmware needs update out of box, must establish wireless connection to update firmware, cannot establish connection without firmware... brought back memories of my first Basic program loop. IF THEN GOTO
So, I restored the laptop back to an earlier version of Intel Wireless Display (NOT WiDi its too new) and that only worked after c-o-m-p-l-e-t-e-l-y reading Intel's multiple download pages.
i5 USERS i5 USERS i5 USERS!!! the Core i5 requires a software all its own! Which Intel will happily provide. I swear I heard them laughing on the other end when I finally figured it out too.
My Netgear router has been solid as a rock for years, this thing took a little credibility away in my book. Intel stepped up to the plate and got me through it. Netgear was little to no help, neither was Dell but Ive come to expect that.

Other Thoughts: I initially thought it would be useful and it still may be at some point. Now that I have it, and got it working it feels more like a novelty. The slight delay form PC to monitor was very disappointing but don't panic, little adjustments to the app and graphics smooth it out nicely.
I should add, My Intel i5 is a 2nd gen, 3 and 4 gen owners may have better luck out of the box HOWEVER, from what I read, ALL i5 need a different app/software.

2 out of 5 eggscheck your hardware

Pros: Guess its great if you can get the right configuration

Cons: beware - you have to have the correct hardware configuration to get this to work. this does not work with EVERY device.

Other Thoughts: own intel laptaps (all with ix procs) from asus, dell, and gateway. NONE of them work because they dont have the right configuration.

be careful before u purchase - check here to see if your device is compatible:
