5 out of 5 eggsNetgear should rebrand to "The Bee's Knee's"

Pros: - This thing has been running strong for over two years now
- Great coverage area
- Looks OK

Cons: - 5GHz is pointless, not a con just an observation

Other Thoughts: I would highly recommend this router, it's refurb'd but you'd never know, works great, easy set up, full featured. I wish that they would start making this things with more Ethernet ports.

4 out of 5 eggsStill plugging along!

Pros: Bought this, refurbished, a tad over 3 years back and it's still working!
The Netgear Genie software is easy to use wonderful.
Love the "push and connect" feature.

Even got it to work with my WiiU.

Cons: Only problem I've encountered is that now it seems to drop the connection every now and then for some reason.

I think this is a combination of the age of the router and the fact there are some older 2.4ghz phones in the house.

Other Thoughts: Thanks in part to my experience with this Netgear router, I will be using Netgear WiFi products for many more years to come.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Router I've Ever Bought

Pros: A cool, seizure-inducing blue light.

Children lose wifi 50x daily and are forced to play outdoors.

Cons: I lose my connection at least 50 times daily. I have several devices and use them all thoughout the day, and I'm very dependent on wifi. My household currently uses: 2 phones, 2 iPads, 1 desktop 1 laptop, 2 iPods, 2 rokus, 1 chromecast, and 1 raspberry pi. Having to run up & down the stairs to unplug the router 75 times a day to play games & watch movies sucks, although I do have nice hamstrings. My streaming connection is so slooooow, it's taking me back to AOL 1995.

Other Thoughts: I'm aware there is now some "lifetime warrenty" for this model. Like most humans, I don't have the receipt, just my order history in Newegg.

How about when you make a non-functioning product, you just make a recall?

1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy

Pros: Cheap price for a dual band router.

Cons: Last only 5 months.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you get a warranty on refurbished devices.

Manufacturer Response:

Hey NANR,

We are very sorry to hear that your refurbished WNDR3400 has stopped working after only 5 months. This particular router may have a lifetime warranty attached to it.

1 out of 5 eggsGood brand, bad product

Pros: Dual band options

Cons: Where to start. The unit over heats all the time. You have to shut it off and then turn it back on to get it to work properly. Don't connect more than 5 devices because you start getting IP conflicts and drops Wi-Fi connection all the time. The USB port on it only operates at 1mb on the average day and on a really good day with one item connecting to it you may get a 3mb-10mb connection. Wi-Fi always drops and the range is horrible. I know most of this is my fault for buying a refurbished unit but it was not worth the $10 I wasted on it. The biggest issue is the over heating and constant Wi-Fi dropping.

Don't use Netgear support as they charge you for help to support a faulty product.

The forums is worse than Netgears phone support so don't even bother using their forums either. I see posts where they say go to their forum but you would have better luck hitting your head against a wall to come up with an answer.

Other Thoughts: STAY AWAY FROM THIS ROUTER!!!!!

Manufacturer Response:

Hello In Theory,

We will be glad to help you with your WNDR3400.

The standard NETGEAR warranty is as follows:

1 year hardware warranty
90 days phone support
Email support is valid for warranty support period

You however may have a lifetime warranty on it(check here for details):

Please, whenever you get a moment, email us at newegg@netgear.com with a copy and paste of your review. Also include any case numbers that you received from support so we can investigate your case.

We apologize for the issues and hope to get the resolved right away.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: awesome paperweight. can't rate lower than 1 egg.

Cons: DOA

Other Thoughts: purchased this 6 months ago for a project and never got around to using it -- opened it today, plugged it in, and nothin'... no lights, doesn't show up on network, ... dead. My bad for buying a refurb and not testing it, but I buy refurb stuff all the time and never had anything DOA like this... Live and learn...

Manufacturer Response:

We are very sorry to hear that your refurb never worked properly and want to let you know our forums are a great place to troubleshoot.

1 out of 5 eggsBad Deal

Pros: Easy setup

Cons: Dropping connection every 10 min to an hour, how can you have a router that drops your connection. Replaced with another brand problem solved.

Other Thoughts: Don’t get sucked in by the price, this is refirb junk, you will not be happy with this router. My good money spent badly.

Manufacturer Response:

Hey Izzy,

We want to offer assistance if you would like. You can email us at newegg@netgear.com at any time, or you can contact our support team at support.netgear.com.

We hope to get the dropped connections fixed right away and can't apologize enough.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Stable and efficient unit.

Cons: As a refurb, there is no serial number on the unit, and am unable to secure the wireless portion of the router. Because it's a refurb, Netgear will not answer any questions unless you give a Credit Card number to pay for a $40 Tech Support phone conversation.

Manufacturer Response:

Hey Ray,

We are very sorry to hear about your situation and would like to let you know that our forums are a great place to ask questions and troubleshoot.

You can also use the support page-- you can try upgrading to the latest firmware if you haven't already.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't Recommend

Pros: Only thing good about this is that it supports faster speeds than most routers and has dual band.

Cons: First model had to be rma and after receiving my replacement everything seemed ok until the next day. Speeds fluctuate too much. One day I get 7 to 8mbps the next day I get 28mbps. It's not my internet provider because plugged directly to my modem I get over 25 every time. I have constant disconnects and also my Nest thermostat keeps going offline after getting this. My old one band 300 belkin router is better.

Other Thoughts: I wish I could return it for my money but that's not possible. Maybe I can sell it and get a different router. Oh well, you live and you learn.
I don't recommend paying anything over $50 on this.

Manufacturer Response:

Hey Jaz,

You can use our support team for assistance-- they can help figure out what is going wrong. If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask them.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Has a lot of features, very reliable and easy to install.
I bought this one on sale, actually I bought two and then one more. Two are paired - one is a base station and the other one is repeater.
I was thinking to flash DD-WRT from the very beginning, but found native firmware very good too. It basically gave me all options I needed.

Cons: The only con is that there is no antenna outputs.
But this is not a problem. Once I feel like I really need one - I'll make it by my own.
