1 out of 5 eggsLemon

Pros: I have used many, many Netgear routers, mostly WNR2000, some WNDR3700's.. I have always bought refurbished. Love them.
Easy setup, consistent, high-quality, looked and they always felt new.

Cons: I needed 3 dual-band routers, decided to buy refurbished WNDR3700's.
Two croaked within the 30 day warranty period, Newegg replaced them (great service!). One croaked after 45 days.
Both replacements croaked within two weeks.

Other Thoughts: I have replaced the three refurbished routers with brand new ones, still love the router.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsThe Go-To Router

Pros: The WNDR3700 is a great Go-To Router especially when its on sale. The Refurbished models I have owned from Netgear have always been like new like they were brand new!. I got V3 of the router. V4 is the latest and the best of them all so far. Remeber most people that have issues just need to update there firmware and preform a Factory Reset Afterwards will fix most issues if not all for some people.

Cons: Not a product Con but Wish NewEgg would start putting what Version the Device is instead of "Risking" it

Cons: the 5 giga htz band radio burnt out. the 2.4 band is getting bad. the LAN ports still work and the reason

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fast, dual band, looks very sleek.

Cons: This was an amazing device... when it worked. I got it 9/23/2013 and on 4/08/2014 it suddenly stopped working. When I plug it in, it powers on, the goes into standby mode (Little yellow light at the bottom). I've reset it about 3 different ways and have tried everything, but for whatever reason I cannot get it to work. I would love to return it to get a new router, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and assumed if would work perfectly. So here I am, 7 months later without a working router. I'm only writing this now because luckily my modem has WiFi capabilities.

I wouldn't recommend this router to anyone, I would advise them to get a non-refurbished on and maybe from a different brand. Get something with good reviews or you could end up like me.

Other Thoughts: I'm very disappointed in this router, I thought it would last more than just 7 months.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsI should have listened...

Pros: dual band, gig lan, price.

Cons: 5ghz is almost entirely broken

Other Thoughts: I got everything hooked up but I noticed extremely slow connection speed to my router from 5ghz clients. I then Used Kismet and found out that the 5ghz signal was already at "half" signal across the room 10 feet away. Once you go through a door, the signal is non-existent.

Everyone said that this router has signal issues and it's true. I'll now have to go through a return / RMA process and likely just get the same thing all over again. Netgear has been making merchant comments on these reviews stating if you need help to "go to their forums". No one here needs "help" via the forum where everyone just states that their wireless signal is now broken. What we could use help with is individual contact information from netgear to expedite the return of this obviously faulty product.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this router!

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Ryan,

We apologize for the frustrations and thank you for your review. The firsting thing we recommend doing is contacting our support team-- they can be reached at support.netgear.com and would be more than happy to help.

If you are a do-it-yourselfer then you can check out our support page. One thing you can do that may help is upgrading to the latest firmware:

5 out of 5 eggsover 6 months no issues yet :)

Pros: I got this Refurbished WNDR3700v3, I did install the DD-WRT on this baby, it work great with no issues at all for several months, then I got a new WNDR3700v4 at another local retailer for a very good price, and to be honest, I have more range with the V3(refurbished) than the V4. Also I did put back the original Firmware to the V3 a pain in the rear lol. but with telnet and some research was simple. I have the two routher working together in my house. one as a router and the other as a AP. excellent product.

Cons: none, it does what is meant to do.

Other Thoughts: I did put back the default firmware to it because when I got the v4 it give me the 300mbps connection and the v3 did not with ddwrt, after that I have all the speed of 300mbps in the 2 routers. and personally I prefer the V3 instead of the v4.

1 out of 5 eggsRefurbished WNDR3700v2

Pros: Purchased thru Newegg!
Dual Band
Giga Port
Usb Port
Price $59.00(refurbished unit purchased 8/12/2012) Did I mention Newegg?! :-)

Cons: 5 MHz band/radio died. router shows 5 Ghz band lite, and flashing yet using a WiFi sniffer, it isn't transmitting. the 2.4 band is weak where it was strong when new. I don't know if streaming movies stored on a usb drive was to much. I plugged in a dual band Linksys E2500 also purchased from Newegg. I hate the routers menu. Not everyone is an IT professional and it also why I bought the Netgear. what sucks is my problem is hardware quality. if it were software, Id install DDRT or tomato and call it a day

Other Thoughts: This is the first Netgear product that has let me down. Wish I had purchased a replacement plan or that it were still under warranty.

Manufacturer Response:

If you are looking for help you can always post on our forums located at forum1.netgear.com.

We appriciate you being a long time NETGEAR customer and hope to help you in any way we can.

3 out of 5 eggsWorked great for 16 months

Pros: Reliable connectivity, very good performance, good range, nice interface providing lots of control and tweaking.

Cons: Durability - I would expect a better life cycle.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this refurb unit to replace a Trendnet TEW-633GR that intermittently decides to stop using it's wireless radio. I wanted something with USB support that I could plug an external drive into and stream media to various devices throughout the house. This provided everything I wanted as well as dual-band connectivity. It rarely needed the occasional reset, maybe once every few months, and generally worked quite well with good range. Also, it has a known potential radio issue, in that the radio has the likelihood of no longer working one day. When I tried to get online one morning and couldn't find the signal from across the house, I started researching (on a computer much closer to the router) and found this is a common-enough issue to have a good bit of internet chatter about it. Google something like "NETGEAR WNDR3700 looses signal strength" to read all about it. For the ~$50 I paid for the refurb, it's not a lot of money for the return, but I would expect components to last longer and am disappointed to have to replace it so quickly. However, I also find myself considering the same refurb unit as a replacement - for the price, it provide all the consumer / residential connectivity I need, and in pricing newer solution, I don't know if I'll get more longevity out of other units. While my Trendnet is back in action now and working, I've already had to reset the unit after one day of service, and I forget how convenient it was to have a "set it and forget it" wireless solution.

1 out of 5 eggsGood while it lasted

Pros: Range and throughput

Cons: Died after a month and a half.

Other Thoughts: Nice router, but died after a month and a half. I now hear a high pitched whine from the router and both the 2.5 and 5 GHz channels have a range of about 5ft. Will not purchase another refurbed unit.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear that the WNDR3700 isn't working. You can use our forums and ask any question you might have. People there will also be glad to help.

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of Garbage

Pros: It's pretty, has an actual power switch, good indicator lights, and is wall-mountable (becoming more rare these days).

Cons: No longer works. Lasted 45 whole days before becoming non-functional. Thanks, NewEgg for your 30 day refurb warranty. Perfect timing.

Other Thoughts: I should have listened to all the advice I got telling me that this router model was a lemon. It sure was.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Hermit,

We are sorry to hear that your refurb isn't working properly. There are a couple of things you can do-- the first being to check out the support page and troubleshoot from there:
