5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Choice

Pros: I purchased this router to replace a defective router at a customer's home. The router is in the basement (not the ideal location for a 2-story house) and the customer gets an excellent signal on the ground floor and a good signal on the second floor.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsIt's all good in da hood.

Pros: Works fine. Hook up was easy as any other router coming off a cable modem.

Cons: I don't like the stand footing.

Other Thoughts: Works as advertised and you can't beat the Egg's shipping times.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Deal, best if you get Version 2

Pros: Cheap -- received version 2 (which has more memory among a few other features).

I've bought two of these and both work really well, one is my router/main ap the other is a bridge. Both are running DD-WRT. I don't recommend running the stock firmware, if you've got the patience/know-how to install DDWRT do it. It works really well.

Cons: None, even if one of them dies in a few months, I still think I got my money's worth out of them. Now to wait till there' s a cheap ac option.

Other Thoughts: If you plan on running stock firmware, I might look elsewhere. Netgear isn't bad per se with there firmware they're just not great. Running DD-WRT (or something else if you can find it) is the way to go with this.

3 out of 5 eggsBeware with firmware updates for this model

Pros: Range, speed, reliability

Cons: USB read/write speed, Tech Support. Firmware

Other Thoughts: Overall, the router works pretty well. Reading and writing off the USB is a little slow. The range is pretty good, and it's been reliable after I updated to firmware 1.0.0.32. The problem, however, now is that there is a known issue with that version of the firmware that prevents you from upgrading past it. I am now getting notices that there is a new version available, .36, however, the device will not update. I've wasted several days with Netgear's HORRIBLE Tech Support, and other than trying to sell me paid support for more than I paid for the router, they've been useless. Netgear really has among the WORST customer support, so if you're considering this, hope you don't have issues

Manufacturer Response:

Hello David,

We are very sorry for the issues you’ve had with tech support. We’d like to investigate this issue further. Please contact us at newegg@netgear.com with a copy and paste of your review, as well as any case numbers you received from support.

1 out of 5 eggs2 Months in already having problems

Pros: 5G when it works

Cons: Randomly shuts off wireless signal and requires a manual reboot. Today when it happened I went to check it and the whole router was off.

Other Thoughts: I would like a refund.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Anonymous,

We are very sorry that your WNDR3700 is randomly shutting off. If you would like some assistance, please feel free to contact our tech support team when you get a chance.

Have you tried the 30-30-30 reset?
http://forum1.netgear.com/showthread.php?t=62062
1. With the router powered on, hold the reset button in for 30 seconds
2. Continue to hold the reset button in and power down the router
3. Wait 30 seconds while continuing to hold the reset button, then power on the router
4. Continue to hold the reset button in for a final 30 seconds then release
5. Wait for the router to reset and reboot, allow to settle for several minutes

We apologize for any inconvenience.
NETGEAR Team

5 out of 5 eggsWNDR3700

Pros: Easy installation. Four gigabit ports, a USB port, and ability to wall mount. Wide area coverage.

Cons: None that I could think of.

Other Thoughts: I bought this router from the local Exchange near my house on 01/15/2011. I've never had a problem with this router ever. I live in a Town house all the way in the back, and I still get a signal all the way to the street where I park my car, sometimes inside my neighbor's house with my iphone 4s.

5 out of 5 eggsFeature Packed For The Price

Pros: Gigabit ports, WPS, USB Storage, Guest Zone, Traffic Meter.

Cons: 5Ghz range is disappointing. Slow network storage access.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for my parents 2 story house. Most of their devices run on 2.4Ghz, and its fast with excellent range. The 5Ghz band unfortunately doesn't perform as well, but they don't have many devices that utilize it, so it wasn't a concern. It's been very reliable so far. Not a single reboot required. Couldn't tell the difference from new, so weaknesses aside this is a great deal for a N600 router. If you want better 5Ghz performance I would look elsewhere. The model I received was v2.

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth the effort

Pros: If it worked it would have extended range, dual band wifi, QOS, USB hard drive sharing and parental controls.

Cons: Random wifi connection issues with Apple IOS 6.0/6.1 devices. Router will not allow firmware upgrades without being TFTP savvy (bug in firmware .32). Occasional lockups

Other Thoughts: I remember reading in Maximum PC magazine how great the Netgear line of wifi routers. However, Netgear treats all refurbished product like the plague, even when they are responsible for the problem; i.e. the firmware .32 upgrade bug. Got the 1 year replacement plan for free, and I think its time for me to take advantage of that fact.

1 out of 5 eggsBeware of refurbished Netgear products

Pros: Price
All software/firmware bugs seem to have been resolved
Great range
Great speed
Several features

Cons: Netgear customer support is horrible and will NOT helo you with ANYTHING if you have a refurbished item. I purchase one of these brand new over a year ago and it worked like a champ and was fairly straight forward on setup. Purchased a refurbished 3700 from Newegg to expand my range even further (have several brick walls between computer room and main living room) and called their customer support section when I was having issues getting the two WNDR3700s to sync. They wouldn't have anything to do with me because it was refurbished. Nevermind the new router that was still on my account. They treat refurbished items like the plaque...now I will return the favor and will not be purchasing any netgear items in the future.

Other Thoughts: Newegg rocks and Netgear could learn from them. I have the netgear powerline (new) and the original 3700 (new) and because I have ONE refurbished item, they refuse to help without paying them? Ridiculous! For those wondering, you have to give them the model #, part #, MAC address, etc. for every item you are calling about...no way around the refurbished item if you have an issue....really is a shame as I was a huge advocate of their products and steered family and friends to purchase netgear products.....
