1 out of 5 eggsWiDi doesn't work with Windows 8

Pros: Adequate if you're not interested in WiDi.

Cons: Got this specifically for WiDi feature - should have done research first. Netgear apparently has no plans to release an update to make it compatible with Windows 8 - WEAK SAUCE!

1 out of 5 eggsNot happy with Netgear :(

Pros: Sadly none for me but if you need an item to stream your Netflix, it's ok.

Cons: I don't usually review products but Netgear really dropped the ball on this one and consumers deserve to know about it. Still no support for WIDI and Windows 8. I bought the product to run WIDI. Netgear support pretty much told me too bad and they have no clue if (or when) it will support it. Windows 8 was released to manufactures in August of 2012. It's been 8 months, what are they waiting for?

5 out of 5 eggsFine

Pros: Great price on sale with rebate.
Have tried it on several TVs and it is plug and play with no problems.
Detected my WiFi and configured easily.
Small and attractive.
Very prompt rebate.

Cons: The remote works best at a distance. If your too close you have to aim carefully.
I was Unable to get the Intel WiDi to work. Apparently only works with 3d generation Intel chips so unless you have a newer laptop this function is not usable.

Other Thoughts: This is my first streaming box so I can’ compare it to other units and have not had it long enough to comment on longevity. It seems to work as advertised and for $35 after rebate I am happy. Very impressed with the prompt manufacturer’s rebate ( 3 weeks) when some manufacturers (Antec) don’t even bother sending one.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: it has the apps that were promised. The price was excellent.

Cons: apps are very limited and even the podcasts seem to point to outdated material. There are more useless apps than usefull ones.

Other Thoughts: Would love an app that can find a media server on the network and use it. The wireless bandwith seems to be much lower than g or n. The android remote control app seems to have a bug with using the keyboard. I don't know what kind of platform this is built on but it seems like more apps should be accessible than this tiny repository that is currently offered.

2 out of 5 eggsProduct does not support WiDi in windows 8 (yet?)

Pros: Setup on TV was easy and smooth. WiFi internet connection was easy. I was able to quickly update the firmware and access the apps included. (except Widi - see cons below)

Cons: Spent some time trying to link up with Widi on my computer. Had some issues with wi-fi adapter on my computer and needed to update drivers in order to have Widi function again (apparently after windows 8 upgrade). Got all that working and received error message that NeoTV 200s does not function with windows 8. I haven't been able to get any information that Netgear is working on firmware upgrade or will upgrade the product firmware. How disappointing! The opportunity to use Widi was the reason I purchased this product. I am going to return this product and look for another that supports Windows 8.

Other Thoughts: Now that I know that there is an issue, I have searched for solutions. There don't appear to be any at this time. I am disappointed in Netgear that the Windows 8 product limitation isn't noted in any of their product information.

5 out of 5 eggsNetgear NeoTV

Pros: Actually bought the NTV200-100NAS model for the bedroom TV and was surprised with the performance. I use it for Netflix because it loads faster than the Blu-ray players I have with built in WiFi and the picture quality is great with my DSL connection on my full HD TVs. I liked it so much that I bought another for the living room television. With different apps available I can control both the NeoTV and my TVs on my smartphone or tablet without having to use multiple remotes.

Cons: The model I bought does not do the wireless laptop display so I can't compare the difference between using this media streamer versus having a laptop hardwired directly to a my HD TVs, not sure if using that wireless connection with the NTV200S-100NAS model gives me access to the web and stored media on my home network. Kind of odd internet channels you can access and the built in games are not that great. Does not allow you (either model) to stream stored media on your home network as a standalone.

Other Thoughts: Overall, this is a nice little device for half the price of other media steamers.

2 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: Netflix generally works, other parts work sometimes.

Cons: Most of the rest. WiDi is buggy at best on this device. There's no DLNA support at all. It's slow to respond, the device is buggy in general. Have to unplug it before every use or it won't wake up

Other Thoughts: I can't say it's worth it. Netflix generally works. Everything is slow to respond. No DLNA is one of the biggest killers. Flingo does nothing really, though from the promotional material it sounds like it should be similar in function to DLNA. In reality all it does it send videos from 3 sites it works with, one of them youtube, which is built in already, to the box. Generally pretty useless. There's no support for amzon content. I can't get the device itself to work without unplugging it then plugging it back in every time I want to use it. It won't even power off when I hit the button on the remote. I bought this hoping it would work as a substitute for a new TV with media streaming. It isn't. I don't know if the newer models are any better, but I can't imagine they are. The biggest problem seems like it's software, and all the new hardware in the world won't matter if the software is still junk.

5 out of 5 eggsAwsome!

Pros: I was probably one of the last people on the planet to jetison my CRT TV and D/A convertor box. I have NEVER had cable, dish, satellite or any other kind of paid TV.
Anyhow, i bought this box and it took about 10 minutes to completely setup; including a firmware flash. I am using it to access NetFlix. Works perfectly with a 1.5/3.0mbs down/upload DSL connection.
My Galaxy SII Android remote application is also working perfect. This is EXACTLY what I was after.
Also, about 1/2 the physical size I expected.

Cons: None yet
