1 out of 5 eggsBeware: Disconnect Issue with Windows 10

Pros: It has excellent range and speed.

Cons: This adapter has a major compatibility issue with Windows 10, even with Netgear's latest drivers. The problem happens when your Windows 10 computer is either restarted or goes into sleep mode. Often after one of these events, the adapter will simply no longer be able to connect to your network. The only RELIABLE solution to this problem for most people is to shut down and turn the computer on again. Other suggested solutions such as disabling USB selective suspend (in power settings) and preventing Windows from turning off the device (in driver settings) do not work. In the worst cases, not even shutting down the computer will fix the issue, and instead you have to reinstall the drivers. Imagine having to do that several times each day. I had to.

This issue was brought to Netgear's attention on the Netgear forum in 2015 shortly after the release of Windows 10. Now, at least 7 months later, Netgear still has not solved this issue. You can refer to the following threads on the Netgear forum for more information:

"A6200 Disconnecting on Windows 10" https://community.netgear.com/t5/WiFi-Adapters/A6200-Disconnecting-on-Windows-10/td-p/981072

"A6210 randomly disconnects and i have to manually unplug it and plug it back in." https://community.netgear.com/t5/WiFi-Adapters/A6210-randomly-disconnects-and-i-have-to-manually-unplug-it-and/td-p/1077693

There are several other threads about the same issue.

I returned this adapter to Newegg but I cannot recommend another WiFi adapter because I decided to use Ethernet instead.

1 out of 5 eggsStops working on Computer Restart/Sleep

Pros: Good connection

Cons: When I restart my PC I have to unplug and re-plug this to make it work.

4 out of 5 eggsok sometimes

Pros: very fast
stable connection(unless if over heating)

Cons: tends to over-heat(but could be solved by tying a cold pack to it or using a fan)
need to download their latest driver from their website instead of provided cd

5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfectly with Windows 10

Pros: I get a great signal with this adapter. Reviewers that say it doesn't work with Windows 10 are wrong. I haven't had any disconnect and these are super cheap. The USB 2.0 is not a problem because no AC adapter is going to hit 480 mbps or anywhere close from the real world tests I have seen of many of the fastest AC adapters.

Cons: Probably too bulky to use as a laptop adapter but certainly possible,

3 out of 5 eggsWorks ok when working.

Pros: Works good after you unplug it and plug it back in after restart.

Cons: You have to unplug it and plug it back in after you restart the computer. I contacted support and they told me to reinstall that did nothing. I got it for free with a router so should not complain.

Other Thoughts: Would not recommend unless you want to unplug and plug back in after a restart.

5 out of 5 eggsThe range!!

Pros: Excellent range
Beamforming
Easily connects to my R7000 at 867Mb/s which is more than enough for my 50/50 fiber connection
Comes with a usb dock

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: Grab the newest driver off the netgear site as it enables beamforming which is I am guessing how it gets wicked speeds at long distances.
When installing driver do it BEFORE plugging in the device as I have had issues where the install freezes if you have the device plugged in while doing the install.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy

Pros: Looks good

Cons: It's has limited performance. I thought it would be better than the performance SP4's but not. It could not even discover some wifi that SP4 can find. No matter how many time I spent on the setting of the adaptor, it can not even find. It also performs much slower than my latop's.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this product. Don't buy this product. Don't buy this product.

4 out of 5 eggsFast

Pros: Fast, drivers can be installed without unnecessary Netgear bloatware, includes dock

Cons: Installation wasn't simple plug-and-play. Drivers needed to be installed prior to plugging in the adapter

Other Thoughts: Came free with a modem. I probably won't get a ton of use out of it, but it's nice to have a back-up wifi dongle if I need it.

1 out of 5 eggsDOES NOT WORK WITH WINDOWS 10!

Pros: it's fast, when it was connected and works great under windows 7.

Cons: DOES NOT WORK WITH WINDOWS 10! my adapter kept disconnecting constantly and it got worse with larger download files. I ran a WLAN report and it showed the adapter disconnecting and reconnecting ALL the time until it finally just disconnects without reconnecting. the driver is incredible unstable. When I contacted netgear, they told me my 4month old adapter did not qualify for direct help and that I would have to pay for help!! their forums are full of windows 10 a6200 users ALL with the same problem. Netgear refuses to fix the issue and has abandoned their customers on this issue. DO NOT BUY THIS ADAPTER if you are using windows 10 or planning to go to windows 10. you will be frustrated as well as wasting your money! For the record, I tried everything ever mentioned on Netgears's forums as well as other forums across the net and nothing worked. Google the A6200 disconnecting in windows 10 and you will see the issues everyone is having. I got so frustrated I spent more money and got a new adapter that has been rock solid!! I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER NETGEAR PRODUCT!!!

Other Thoughts: if you use windows 10, stop looking at this adapter and get a different one....this one will drive you crazy with the disconnects!!
