2 out of 5 eggsNot Great

Pros: Allows me to connect to wifi

Cons: Disconnects me from wifi.

Other Thoughts: Basically, if you restart your computer with this still hooked up to your computer, you have to take it out and plug it back in. But don't expect it to work when you plug it back in either.

It will also disconnect you from your wifi occasionally.

Stay far, far away, I like NETGEARs routers and they are usually high quality, but this adapter is not a quality product in any way whatsoever.

I ended up running a 100ft ethernet cable through my house to get my internet and it worked so I'm happy with that.

2 out of 5 eggsPiece of Garbage

Pros: Great speed when it worked

Cons: Rarely worked
USB adapter would disappear on reboot
Not compatible with linux except through NDIS wrapper
Died after about 8 months

Other Thoughts: Spend your money elsewhere. This thing is a piece of garbage.

1 out of 5 eggsFast Speeds - Disconnects Often

Pros: Very Fats Speeds and distance. I have this in my basement and the wireless router is on the third floor. I have all bars.

Cons: First I thought it was an issue with using Windows server 2012, but now I read the reviews and see that multiple owners have the same disconnect problems. I created a bat script to restart the driver every four hours to correct the problem (See below for script), but this is on a server which is a bad habit to do.

:start
timeout /t 28800
netsh interface set interface "Wi-Fi 2" Disable
timeout /t 1
netsh interface set interface "Wi-Fi 2" Enable
goto start

Other Thoughts: I do not recommend this device to anyone.

2 out of 5 eggsBeware

Pros: When this product works it's very nice.

Cons: This disconnects very frequently. I kept a chart on how many times per day it disconnected. It was 37 times in one day. And there is no reset switch on the device so you have to unplug and plug it back into the usb. This wears out the contact plates over the months very quickly. The amount of times it has disconnected over the years has made me so angry it is now a pile of scrap on the floor. But I was not over reacting. I can't take my laptop put it in the same position in the house and run the same games and browsing on the Internet and it maybe on a bad day disconnects twice while my once functioning adapter would have disconnected 8 times within 30 minutes. I have tried all of the 8 USB ports on my pc . The sub craddle to put into better places for better reception but nothing helped.

1 out of 5 eggsconstant disconnects

Pros: When it works, it works great. But it will drop connection and force you to re-install every hour or every day or every week... Anytime in that range, really, which means if you do competitive gaming - you will lose because of it.

I waited for software upgrade but it never came; now going to buy something different.

Cons: Disconnects constantly within 1hr-1week

4 out of 5 eggsA6200 needs a reset

Pros: Very fast speed when used with fast router.
quick to connect

Cons: The A6200 needs to be reset after the computer has been asleep of in another off or nearly off state.
Netgear should have added a USB reset in the USB driver for the A6200.

Other Thoughts: The A6200 needs a reset. I have discovered that the A6200 works perfectly when connected to a certain USB on my motherboard, but it does not work after computer has slept when connected to some of the other USBs on the MB. If your A6200 has a problem just try a different USB plug or different USB settings for sleep.

4 out of 5 eggsKnow how to use.

Pros: Must know how to position it facing router direction.
once you have it positioned works great.
looks good
cool netgear connection settings

Cons: MUST use the sideways feature of this product to acheive constant good connectivity, constant disconnection if in verticle position.

Other Thoughts: i have experianced many disconnects and lossage of signal, but if you utilize the extension usb cord and the sideways adapter setting it works amazing! i sat down and ran my own test. and streamed constant different youtube videos in the background (1080P) while constantly looking at the connection bars. before they would never get more than 3 bars, but after 2 hours of loading at least 7 1080p videos it never dropped below THE TOP TWO BARS i was hitting the refresh connection setting in the menu and never lost connection. great adapter. very tempurmental though. (my wireless router is about 28 yards to my general position and up one level, always have had connection problems until now)

1 out of 5 eggsYeah, same problems you see below - just confirming...

Pros: When it works, it works fine. For me, that is about two or three days...

Cons: With Windows 8.1, it will intermittently disconnect. If you disconnect/reconnect, it will sometimes come back to life and let you connect to a network. If that doesn't work, it requires a reboot. I cannot uninstall the drivers using their Uninstaller package - it just locks my computer up tight. I used standalone drivers for the install. I've tried "reinstalling" and choosing the repair "uninstall/reinstall" option and it locks up as well. Sigh...

1 out of 5 eggsFast but unreliable

Pros: It will smoothly stream HD video and allow gaming with great speed...when it works.

Cons: It will randomly decide not to work and force you to go through the re-install process. This happens mostly when the computer goes to sleep: When you wake it up, network connections are lost and the network navigator will not even open up...forcing you to re-install. I averaged re-installing the software/drivers for this thing about 3-4 times a week. Finally last night it refused to detect any networks and locked up and the status light on it just blinks and blinks; it no longer sees any networks. No amount of software manipulation would bring it back. JUNK.

Upgrading to newer drivers from Netgear did nothing to improve reliability or stability.

I am done with Netgear equipment.

Other Thoughts: I bought this from a local big box retailer, not from Newegg, but I've decided to share my experience lest someone else go through the grief this thing visited upon me.
