5 out of 5 eggsNice extender

Pros: Easy to setup. Had it working in 5 minutes. Nice boost to 3 PCs I use upstairs. My gateway is downstairs so performance upstairs was horrible. Much better performance after installing this thing.

Cons: Just a little stronger trans/rec would have been better.

Other Thoughts: Buy it!

4 out of 5 eggsWorking well for me so far

Pros: Low cost
Has external antennas
Came with the latest firmware already installed, its the "Genie" version which seems to work well. Repeater connects to my router (Netgear WNR3400 running DD-WRT), my Vizio TV connects to the repeater.
Streaming HD video works fine, nice and smooth.

Cons: Somewhat large and thick (about 2 inches).
Antennas are not removable.
Received the V1H2 version, that's the first generation product, theres a V2 and a V3 of this model.
Online manual (from Netgear) shows the old user interface but the actual interface is the newer "Genie" version.

Other Thoughts: Watch out that you don't accidentally press the on/off button on the side of the unit when you grab the unit to plug it into the wall.

5 out of 5 eggsAfter 1 week no complaints

Pros: Bought it on sale w/ free shipping for 17.54 placed it and set up roughly 20 to 25 feet from my modem/router set up in a few minutes and now have me entire house covered for chromecast/netflix/wdtv live/not eating my data plan at home anymore... Plain and simple it did everything it was supposed to and my speedtests have shown no loss in download speeds

Cons: A little scuffed up but at that price that really isnt a complaint

Other Thoughts: Get it when the promo code is on and its on sale for sure no regrets so far

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Add-On for the Garage. Best $17.00 I ever spent!

Pros: Easy connectivity and set up. Came with the newest firmware already. On sale for $17.00 with free shipping. Cannot beat that price.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: I had a dead spot in this nook in my garage where my work table is located (and I do a lot of work there - manual work on auto project as well as online). Definitely increased my connectivity from a shaky 1-3 mbps to 20+ mbps constant and better. No more dropped wireless connections for me. I tried this in the garage in three places and the best place was actually on the ceiling outlet next to garage door opener. Awesome deal.

2 out of 5 eggsAbout the Bang for the Buck ($20) . . .

Pros: $20 on special = 2 eggs, one for each $10. The lights light. We'll see for how long . . .

Cons: The only way to get a device to connect to this thing after it connects to the router (R6300v2= junk) is you have to, at least mine, set it up via WPS. Devices will not connect when this unit is manually set up. Sitting right in front of it and connecting a device, I get a stronger signal from the main router than I do from the "Extender" 2 feet away. I got this to fill holes and "extend" range for my pad to control my sprinkling system. We'll see how well it extends on the grounds. And it's not the proverbial "extender". It sets up another network. But since it was only $20 on special, I guess I got what I payed for. Glad I didn't pay full price.

Other Thoughts: And yes as already stated here, the Netgear response team is worthless. When I posted here that I had issues with my original R6300v1, they lovingly replied as they have here and gave me the eMail address they post here, I eMailed several times and never heard a word back. It took many, many calls to Netgear directly to finally get help, which was basically jumping through hoops with a ringmaster in India. Although, finally they sent me a v2 that is no better than the unit I spent over a month jumping through hoops "testing" for them. Their presence here is a smoke screen to instill a false sense of security that you are safe and taken care of, that in all reality is not there. Buyer beware. And yet I don't follow my own advice. Lucky Netgear.
