3 out of 5 eggsWorked well but died

Pros: Worked well while it lasted. I've had this for a bit over a year, and used it for wireless on my desktop. It demonstrated decent speeds (nothing extraordinary), and was even able to pick up a fairly terrible connection from one floor down and across the house.

Cons: I used it on my desktop, which was only used for gaming maybe once or twice a week on average. It died after about a year of fairly light use. Otherwise I'd rate it 5 stars.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: came on a big box like brand new condition. faster and better than my edimax dual band adapter. works on 5ghz no problem as long as your router is also a dual band.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: hesitant to buy it but for the price which is almost free why not.. its the one of the best wireless adapters.

1 out of 5 eggsWorks less than 24 hours

Pros: Easy to setup. Works well when it does.

Cons: Loses connection with my main router almost everyday. A reboot fixes it. Hence not reliable. Will not recommend.

2 out of 5 eggs5GHz not working

Pros: 2.4GHz works better than my existing adapter, twice the throughput.

Cons: 5GHz is not working. This is the only reason I buy this adapter. I tried 4 different drivers from Netgear but none of them worked. Defected?

1 out of 5 eggsCan't detect 5Ghz

Pros: just OK to use for 2.4Ghz

Cons: Can't xx detected the 5Ghz with in 10 feet at all, I tried with so many so called "solutions", still no signals.
I'm running windows 7 on my desktop, nothing related to os issue( since many people complained about it's not working under windows 8).
In the same room, my smartphone can detect the 5Ghz and the connection has no problem.
and since it's a refurbished one, you don't have a serial number, which means you can't get help online with the customer service.
And when you call the customer service will ask you to buy other products or just buy a xxxx warranty so they can do some further help...

Meanwhile, the netgear software is running with bugs, updating drivers to 90% and get back to 70% and just loop over. You have to uninstall it and re-install.
And their engineers should learn more about UI design. The UI is so unfriendly and the help manual is useless.

I bought this solely for the 5Ghz speed, and it made me so upset when I spent hours and failed to fix it.

I didn't expect much from a refurbished product. But it's just the design and customer service is so bad.

It's not worth for me to get a replacement since I highly doubt the next one will work.

Just don't buy it.
