1 out of 5 eggsBad Experience with this device

This review is from: Netgear A6210-100PAS AC1200 Wi-Fi USB Adapter High Gain Dual Band USB 3.0

Pros: When it decides to connect, it is fast.

Cons: This device did not work well in my environment.
Connections are sporadic.
NetGear support was not helpful.

Other Thoughts: I ordered this device, since I just purchased as NetGear Nighthawk as our primary wireless hub, and I figured it would "just work". (The NetGear Nighthawk is great, BTW). It was purchased as a high speed wireless interface for my laptop which has a poor (low-speed) wireless interface. This device is simply a bottomless-pit time wise. I spent days on the internet attempting to find some way to make this thing sustain a connection, and it just would not. NetGear had very little insight as well, and certainly had no answers about why this device could not sustain a connection (with their own router, none-the-less!!).

I suspect the issue is with the drivers, but honestly, I just don't know at this point.

I would highly recommend you pass on this device, unless of course you enjoy frustration.

This doesn't even deserve "1 egg"...

3 out of 5 eggsWorks ok, but not playing well with Windows 7 wake up

This review is from: Netgear A6210-100PAS AC1200 Wi-Fi USB Adapter High Gain Dual Band USB 3.0

Pros: Was easy to set up and seems to work fine usually

Cons: Doesn't come back online when computer (a desktop) wakes up from sleep/hibernate. I hope to resolve this by changing the power management setting that will keep it on. But ideally I would like it to be able to recover from being shut off without needing the system to be rebooted as it does. This seems like a driver deficiency to me.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Eric,

Please email us with a copy and paste of your review so we can help figure out why it isn't coming back online. Simply email us at netgearteam@netgear.com whenever a problem arises. All that you need to do is email us with a link to this review, your contact information, and the current firmware on the A6210.

We are sincerely sorry that you've had trouble and would like nothing more than to make things right.

Regards,

NETGEAR Team

3 out of 5 eggsWorks well with some settings

This review is from: Netgear A6210-100PAS AC1200 Wi-Fi USB Adapter High Gain Dual Band USB 3.0

Pros: This device works fine with Windows 10 on a 2.4 GHz Wireless N connection to my WNDR3700 router operating under 2.4 and 5.0 GHz using the stand alone driver. Prior to buying this device, I was running a WNDA3100 wireless adapter and frequently got BSOD screens when accessing a number of sites. All of that is resolved.

Cons: While 2.4 GHz works fine, attempting to connect at 5.0 GHz caps my connection at about 50 KB/sec, drops tons of packets, and has 1.5-4 second pings. Websites loaded in about half a minute. I was not able to run on a 5.0 GHz Wireless N connection.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

We want to figure out why you are having trouble with the A6210's 5GHz band and get it fixed as soon as possible. When you get a chance please email us at netgearteam@netgear.com with a copy and paste of this review. Also include any other information along with your contact information.

We'd like nothing more than to make things right and can't apologize enough for the trouble with the 5GHz band.

Regards,

NETGEAR Team

Pros: - Not buying this product, seriously for the love of bob don't buy it

- dies ALOT

Other Thoughts: I downloaded the drivers from netgears website to see if that would help and it didnt that customer support sucked pretty bad,

5 out of 5 eggsVery good and this does support Windows 10

This review is from: Netgear A6210-100PAS AC1200 Wi-Fi USB Adapter High Gain Dual Band USB 3.0

Pros: Fast
reliable

Cons: NONE!

Other Thoughts: I had no problem with the Windows 10 driver (Download Link: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/A6210/A6210_v1.0.0.34.zip)
this was updated in Jan 2016 and with a USB 3.0 port the speed is amazing. It substains 300 Mbs+ with ease! I replaced my amped usb with the worthless two antennas on the side and I have have has 0 drops using the AC standard!

4 out of 5 eggsGood Network Adapter

This review is from: Netgear A6210-100PAS AC1200 Wi-Fi USB Adapter High Gain Dual Band USB 3.0

Pros: It works; easy Windows 10 installation; is capable of the highest wireless network connection- AC1000; USB 3.0 for good data transfer; the external USB cable and cradle allow you to move the adapter to the most convenient location with the best signal strength, which has been a big advantage for my desktop vs the PCI-express card I replaced. It has a sleek black look; the cradle makes it good to use with a desktop, or you can plug it directly into a laptop's USB port for more mobility.

Cons: I had to revert my system back to Windows 7 after my Windows 10 hard drive crashed. I had nothing but trouble trying to get it to work on 7. It would connect for a short time but then just disconnect randomly soon after. Web search showed that there were many other with the same problem but I couldn't find any solution other than to disable the item and restart it in device manager- only for it to go back out shortly after. Do not buy this if your run Windows 7.

Other Thoughts: I bought this because I ran out of PCI-express slots in my gaming desktop- thanks to all of those pesky video cards. It seems to work better than my internal one I had previously, which I attribute to being able to move the adapter and cradle around to get better signal. It has AC1000 capability, which I have yet to use but will be good if/when I upgrade my router in the future.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it

This review is from: Netgear A6210-100PAS AC1200 Wi-Fi USB Adapter High Gain Dual Band USB 3.0

Pros: Great speed, a dock extension, takes advantage of USB 3.0. Whats not to like?

Cons: I have yet to encounter technical problems with it.

Other Thoughts: I got this for $60 at Best Buy after my terrible Linksys adapter crapped out. I previously had a bad experience with a Netgear adapter that was rather cheap, as it constantly dropped connection. I was a bit skeptical at first, but this product is certainly a good investment.

I have never had my ping drop, go unstable, or lose connection entirely since I have bought it. While it is a bit more larger in size than most adapters, its a bit more durable too. I didn't like the idea of using the dock at first, but it actually helped keep it from the heat of my computer and closer to my router. Don't let it get hot and it works perfectly.
