5 out of 5 eggsGood Legit Switch

Pros: simplicity
no software required
cost

Cons: more ports for same price..lol

Other Thoughts: I decided one day to run a lan cable into my room and i wanted to get a switch so i wasn't limited to just 1 cable for my Xbox 360 and computer. i use to just use wireless and i have very little to no lag now with the LAN cable..the switch is very nice to have. i haven't noticed any lag due to the switch since i installed it. its always working and i will continue to buy Linksys products.

5 out of 5 eggsSPAREs

Pros: THEY WON'T DIE. I HAD OTHERS THAT DIED ON A REGULAR BASIS, SO I BOUGHT THESE AND SOME 88s AS SPARES WHEN THEY WERE ON SALE. I HAVEN'T HAD TO REPLACE ONE YET.

Cons: SPARES ARE JUST TAKING UP SPACE :)

3 out of 5 eggsOK but requires occasional reset

Pros: Works fine (when it works) and inexpensive. Cables on the back and LEDs on the front - which suits my setup.

Cons: Occasionally have to cycle power to wake it up.

Other Thoughts: I reviewed this unit previously w/the same con. After living with two of these for a a long time, I finally understand why the problem happens - I think.
We have frequent power outages and power "burps". It's the burps that cause the problem. The 55W gets partially reset on a power glitch, but its reset logic doesn't do a full reset unless the power goes off and stays off. A glitch leaves the unit locked up.
Clearly a design bug in the reset logic. It should trigger a reset on glitches *shorter* than what confuses the logic.
Not that anyone cares... If you are prone to power dropouts and spikes, maybe pick a different switch.

Pros: Does what it's supposed to do and does it well. Takes up very little space. Plug and play, no hassles. Never had to reboot it. Cheap.

Cons: None, for my use.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for what it costs

Pros: It moves data between my computers and the internet, not much else you can say. No software to update either, just plug it in and it's ready to go

Cons: Impossible to mount to the bottom of my desk as it has no keyhole ports for screws. I have a cable tray under my desk though so it's not a big deal.

Other Thoughts: When you get it you will quickly realize that if you're plugging it into a router, port 5 and the uplink port are linked together and it then becomes a 4 port switch with 2 uplink ports.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Small, Compact, Light.

Cons: Impossible to mount.

Other Thoughts: I've been using this product for about a year now with no problems. I have my brothers computer, my computer, my DirecTV box, and my PS3 hooked up to this and sometimes using all of the above items at the same time with no problems. Works great. I just ordered a second one.

2 out of 5 eggsOnly lasted 6 months!

Pros: Simple install.

Cons: The switching adapter stop working after 6 months!!! Now what? Buy another one? or Replace the switching adapter?

Other Thoughts: It will be too much trouble and cost about the same as a new one just to request for RMA.
