Horrible
- Pros: None
- Cons: Will not stay connected. Constantly having to reboot units to keep bridge up.
- Other Thoughts: After changing channels, security settings, everything, the units "disappear". I have two of these "beauties" installed as a transparent bridge to connect a pump house to an internet connection to simplify my life. Turns out, I lose connectivity and have to drive out there, power cycle the units, and after testing everything for an hour, I drive home and either unit A or unit B has completely shut off. No new firmware and horrible Linksys technical support - "sir, just press the button on the back of the unit" - Absolute GARBAGE!!! - buy a dedicated wireless bridge from wlanparts.com if you are EVER thinking of using the WET54G for more than a paper weight!!!!!
Picky but awesome
- Pros: This bridge supports WPA-PSK and WPA-PSK2 (v3.x). Connection to an older Linksys router (WRT54G v2.0) has been rock solid with almost zero downtime for well over a year.
- Cons: This bridge is expensive (compared to competitive brands), fickle, and the configuration is not intuitive.
- Other Thoughts: I gave this 5 eggs because, in spite of its faults, it kicks <censored by Newegg>. I have 2 and am ordering another for my Xbox. I have recommended several to friends and family who have 0 issues once they're configured. At almost 100 bucks each these are expensive and a real pain to set up at first, but once they're up, they stay up. I have had 0 downtime due to the bridge in almost 2 years of operation.
Crashes almost daily, requiring power cycle
- Pros: Good web interface and fairly easy to use.
- Cons: As mentioned in a few other reviews and on other online forums, v3.1 of this device crashes regularly when using WPA-PSK wireless encryption. I have to manually power cycle it every few days, and sometimes more frequently. I'm looking around for a suitable replacement.
