1 out of 5 eggsEggshells

Pros: Works 50% of the time.

Cons: Fails, very unstable, undependable ... This has been reconfigured by Blackfoot.net, my server, and it worked well for a while. Now it is failing again and nearly impossible to start without serious voodoo.

Other Thoughts: Gonna get another router.

1 out of 5 eggsUseless Router

Pros: In my view pros for this router
is, lights blink when power cord is connected and internet will be up for sometime in a day for few hours or few days but will have to manually reboot/reset once in a while to make sure functioning properly.

Cons: The useless and hopeless router ever I had seen, spec’s describe and speak very high about the capabilities of this router but wait until you buy and get this specimen router connected and then you will happen to know the actual facts. Initial setup doesn’t take more then 2-5 min however once you start working in detail such as setting security or assigning static IP or trying to configure network printers etc., then good luck with it, and for sure hours & hours of your time will pass by but will still not be able to get this router functioning what it is supposed to be doing. (continued in other thoughts section..)

Other Thoughts: Cons continued..
By the way good luck with tech support, after 40min of wait time some one level 1 or level -1 with no knowledge of supporting routers will show up and will make you do basic stuff (reset router, unplug and plug in power cords, turn upside down etc..) which any 2-3 years old kid would know these basics but at the end of support the summary result will be of another useless help from tech support. My vote for this router is NO.. NO.. please spend your research time on any other routers and probably you might find better one then these Linksys routers (never go with spec’s described on box vs., what they are supposed to do, especially with this Linksys routers.. by the way I even tried next version of WRT54GX2 & WRT54GX4 and both have the same issues, it was mere time & money waste)

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Router Ever Owned

Pros: pretty stellar wireless range throughout a large home and yard, seemed great when first purchased but....

Cons: wireless would NEVER support VPN (the main reason I purchased it) - finally ran hard wired, required multiple firmware loads, now ports are ceasing to function one right after the other.

Other Thoughts: Very disappointed, never performed as it should, no longevity.

2 out of 5 eggsMany resets

Pros: Does what it's supposed to do most of the time and administration is easy with many configurable settings.

Cons: I work at home and use the wireless access 8 hours/day. Throughout the day I'll loose connectivity 3-4. To me this is unacceptable. If I could return this router I would.

4 out of 5 eggsno IT experience necessary

Pros: Anyone who states they are IT should start reading - I am self taught and this router has blown away all other Linksys routers I have owned. It plays CoD/Counter-Strike:Source/WoW/GW without a hiccup. As well my 360 and Wii connect without a hitch. Just read and this thing will work very nice.

Cons: Linksys CS sucks!!
I RMA'd the 1st one because it was not transmitting a wireless signal.

Other Thoughts: Linksys should get ENGLISH speaking people in the CS department.

1 out of 5 eggsAwful

Pros: It sometimes decides to work for 5 minutes.

Cons: The wireless function cuts off completely for hours, and the wired connection goes down to 10MB... IF it decides to work. Also, if you have an XBOX 360, the NAT settings are automatically set on "Strict" unless you open ports and turn off some useful settings. Oh, and the firewall makes it so you cannot play any online video games. Awful product.

Other Thoughts: I'm an I.T. specialist and I haven't used such a poor Linksys product since before they were bought by CISCO.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat a Deal! Easier Than I Expected

Pros: The setup was much easier than I expected. Any problems I ran into during setup and security were minor and were overcome easily. Having some IT knowledge and router experience are definitely helpful with using this model.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I can see where some inexperienced people could get a short temper with some of the advanced settings. Knowing some networking and router standards are helpful with setting up and administering this router.
