The Linksys Wireless-G Music Bridge brings digital music streaming to or stored on your computer to your Home Entertainment Center, without running cables through the house. Using a wireless connection, the Music Bridge finally frees your digital music collection from those little computer speakers to play in full glory through your stereo or surround sound system.

The Wireless-G Music Bridge sits by your home stereo and connects to it using standard consumer electronics cables. Then it connects to your home network by Wireless-G wireless networking, or if you prefer, it can be connected via standard 10/100 Ethernet cabling. The included software creates a virtual sound system in your PC, which sends the audio output of any application to the Music Bridge and the stereo system. Works Simply and Perfectly

Pros: No proprietary media software. No using a TV or small screen as GUI.
Sets up in minutes.
No Drops or sound quality loss
Works with any application

Cons: Could only have been better if I could have selected which apps went to media bridge and which ones went to local speakers - It's all or nothing.
Delay makes it useless for syncing to video

Other Thoughts: This is exactly the product I have been looking for for years only to find that most vendors were trying to sell me a complete media server with some clunky interface or propietary software. I already have a PC that can run any number of media apps with easy to use and easy to read interfaces. I just wanted the audio to broadcast through my stereo, actually through the whole house sound based in a wiring closet. This device was perfect. I set it up in 10 minutes and was listening to internet radio and my media library throughout my house and controlling it from a slimline computer sitting on my kitchen counter. Sound quality is excellent. No drops. No distortion. Best of all I can stand at my PC to select music and without crawling into my wiring closet.

The price is right.

Pros: The option of digital coax or digital optical connections is great (or RCA but who's using that?!?). Device is compact and well built. Looks good in my entertainment center.

Cons: The digital coax connector on the rear of the device is a tight fit - if you have a digital coax cable with a heavy duty shroud don't expect it to fit. Mine didn't so I went with the optical. Also, setup can be a pain if you plan on daisy chaining the device via ethernet to your wireless router. This particular configuration isn't even explained in the documentation - only direct ethernet to PC is mentioned.

Other Thoughts: Overall I'm pretty frikin pleased with this purchase. Sound quality is top notch. I considered the squeezebox but you can't beat the price on this Linksys.

Pros: Works great with XP 32 bit.

Cons: I upgraded all my systems to Windows 7 64 bit and found there is no 64 bit support for any windows! What a bummer. It is a useless brick now.

Don't Bother

Pros: Works occasionally.

Cons: Crashes constantly. The PC connector software is buggy. Setup is difficult. Linksys doesn't even list this product on their website anymore, so there is no chance that any of these flaws will be addressed with firmware/software upgrades.

Other Thoughts: Pass on this product. Get an Airport Express.

Pros: Streams any audio your PC can play.

Cons: Any audio your PC can play includes alert noises and other intrusive junk.
Poorly made.

Other Thoughts: Used this for more than a year. Put up with its quirks and setup hassles till it abruptly died and could not be resurrected.

Gave up and bought an Apple AirPort Express, which has worked pretty much flawlessly as a music streaming device for the past two years, without turning itself into a digital doorstop. Save your money and buy something that actually works.
