The router's Virtual Private Network (VPN) capability creates encrypted "IPSec tunnels" through the Internet, allowing up to 50 remote users or traveling users to securely connect into your office network from off-site. Users connecting through a VPN tunnel are attached to your company's network -- with secure access to files, e-mail, and your intranet -- just as if they were in the building. You can also use the VPN capability to allow users on your small office network to securely connect out to a corporate network.
The router has an advanced SPI firewall to protect your PCs against intruders and block attacks using Denial of Service (DoS). It can be configured to filter internal users' access to the Internet, and has IP address filtering so you can specify exactly who has access to your network. Configuration is a snap with the web browser-based configuration utility.
Built-in 8–port Switch The Cisco RV082 Dual WAN VPN Router’s built-in 8-port full-duplex 10/100 Ethernet switch connects to eight PCs directly, or additional hubs and switches.
Dual WAN Ports The Cisco RV082 is equipped with dual WAN ports that connect to two separate Internet sources for undisrupted connection if one of the two fails, or connect to the same Internet source to help balance traffic loads and reduce bottlenecks.
Network Security with VPN The Cisco RV082 router has advanced firewall, encryption and authentication features to protect you from network threats. Additionally, the RV082 features a Virtual Private Network (VPN) security engine that creates encrypted "IPSec tunnels" through the Internet. The IPSec VPN tunnels enable remote users from at home, or on the road to easily, and securely connect to the office network through a typical wired or wireless broadband connection.
