5 out of 5 eggsAwesome.

Pros: These are awesome things to have if you can't get power to your 5 volt device. I used mine for trendnet internet cameras.

Cons: Wear a static band or something. I kept shocking myself when I was installing them. Dry air maybe?

2 out of 5 eggsNot actually 802.3af

Pros: Power over CAT5 cable works well, get the 12V version for Linksys products that can take the higher voltage (lower current) input.

Cons: NOT 802.3af compatible, they apply 48V without checking to see if the other end is 802.3af, so risk damaging something. Splitters don't power up when attached to (Linksys!) 802.3af Poe switches.

Other Thoughts: Linksys has removed 802.3af listings from this and the WAPPOE12 product. The price used to be right for non-compliant products, but real 802.3af products are now readily available.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Can be used as standard (48V), not draft (12V) POE adapter or 5V when when the converter is plugged in on the other end.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Its way cheaper than other 48V poe adapters and it works well.

1 out of 5 eggsRecommend against WAPPOE

Pros: The price on these was good, and Linksys claims compatibility with both WAP54G and WRT54GL.

Fast, cheap shipping.

Cons: Two out of four Splitter ends have "burned out", but the Injector is still fine. Newegg and Linksys are bouncing back on forth, and neither one has yet issued an RMA.

Other Thoughts: Get the WAPPOE12, not the WAPPOE5. We've been running the same AP's on WAPPOE12 with no problems, even though Linksys claims WAPPOE5 compat.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes What I Need It To Do

Pros: Works just like it's supposed to: Powered 5V routers or other hardware. I have mine sending power over about 200feet of ethernet to a Linksys WRT54GL, works great.

Cons: Nope

4 out of 5 eggsNot 802.3af PoE compliant

Pros: I'm sure this works fine for 5v devices.

Cons: Linksys' documentation for this device is weak. So let me clear it up for you. This only works for devices needing a 5v DC input. It does not work with devices that can be powered by the ethernet cable alone. It is not compliant with the new PoE standard, 802.3af, which requires a 12v supply in the ethernet cable itself.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks like a charm

Pros: This works great at getting power to my wireless router since I don't have an outlet nearby! Haven't had any trouble yet with the WRT54-GL.

Cons: None so far.
